Me vs M3 (inside video) and me vs 2012 GT500 (bad video though)
Only good video i was able to get over the weekend was vs the M3 at Fontana in it's gracious 105ish degree weather and the whole 20 other people there, down from 250+ the weened before... so, with that said, i got 9 runs in... all crap runs and all crap views.
The vidoe's are just for your entertainment, by no means should they be used to say one is better than the other or that it was a fair race or anything like that, just entertainment. Raced a 2012(ish) M3 - you do get a clean shot of the M3. I launched in 2nd on accident, then skipped 3rd and went to 4th... you can hear all of that in the video pretty clearly and he still lost by .4 (and yes, i'm in an automatic and didn't realize i was in 2nd - it was hot ok) Me R/T .423 60 2.19 330 5.843 1/8 8.724 @ 86.32 1/4 13.172 @ 111.77 M3 R/T .341 60 2.363 330 6.057 1/8 9.000 @ 84.13 1/4 13.567 @ 108.28 Video: Raced a 2012 GT500, after a window was sucked out from a car we were able to talk for a while (30 minutes ish). He informed me it was a 2012 and he had 550rwhp, dyno'd the weekend before. picked it up used with 7k miles and had few bolt ons and handheld tuner when dyno'd.. sounded like BS (mainly because every mustang owner i've come acrossed and raced claims 550rwhp, but hey... whatever floats their boat) I was excited to race him when we lined up because 1 it was a GT500, and 2 later i found out it is the same year as my SS Camaro. He was running on 265's in the rear on a drag radial vs me on 325's . He was shocked to find out he lost to a SS Camaro by .1 seconds with only 486rwhp / 467rwtq... however driver mod & heat were probably primary factors - he was manual, i was auto - but like i said, the video's are really just for entertainment purposes. The video doesn't show you the GT500, you'll just have to take my word for it that i raced one and that he lost (note that - he lost, not the car, but the driver - i am well aware i beat the driver if anything at all). Me R/T .122 60 2.108 330 5.637 1/8 8.438 @ 88.31 1/4 12.824 @ 112.78 2012 GT500 R/T .655 60 2.327 330 5.936 1/8 8.705 @ 90.58 1/4 12.953 @ 117.10 Video: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- First set of Fontana Races can be seen here (me vs hellcat, cts-v, mustang & older evo) http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=403163 Second set of Races can be seen here (me vs ZL1, 370z, EVO MR Edition, & 4th Gen camaro) http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=405866 Third Set of Races can be seen here (me vs Cam SS, Cam C6 Vette, and a bmw 335i http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=408140

Stock 2012 gt500s dyno around 485-500 stock. Pulley and a tune for $500 and 550hp+ is easy. Good kill, the gt500s are a handful to drive at their full potential. With the Camaro its pedal to the ground and good to go, do that with the gt500 and spin all day. It took me 4 track days to go from a 13.9 stock to a 12.4 stock. My first track day I got smoked by a v6 mustang, however I had the car for less than 48hrs and sucked at pretty much everything. That driver needs practice, but be careful if he gets real drag radials (not 265s that he had lol I had spin still when I tried 325 m/h). With pulley/tune/drag radials it will be a 10s capable car. There are some 11.1 runs stock with drag radials only on the 11-12s.

Thanks. I lost way too much money on trade ins. I left my second Iraq deployment with 50k saved up and that dwindled down to nothing. I told my wife this car is the last.

but low 11's isn't in my feasible (near) future, that's the range of what i want to run before i'm actually done with this, just not sure what the best route to get there is.

You need to get out of that heat. Where'd you run your basement 12 at?
Gt500 was reeling you hard after the 1/8th but you had just enough of a launch to hold him off.

The GT 500 is hard as heck to launch with street tires. That guy had a 2.3 sixty which is awful. Of course I sucked too on the old Toyo Proxys with a 2.0 sixty......sadly it only did 12.8 at 118 which is quite embarrassing. I haven't made it out yet with the R-888s. Hopefully, I will see a significant improvement. I had to launch with TC on with the old tires. As pointed out I'm seriously thinking about intake/pulley/tune.
Congrats on the wins! |

I blame the heat

and the announcer was actually commenting on this race he was saying "the GT500 is saying i think i can, i think i can, i think i can while at the same time the SS is saying 'i hope i can, i hope i can, ahhhh" lol but yeah, it was a good race, and as i've said, i beat the driver not the car.

This is why i just went with wide a$$ 325's in the rear (M&H's on 20psi). i can still spin them, but... well, you can guess how much easier my launches are.
