Carbon Fiber vs Fiberglass Rear Spoiler?

Looking for some opinions:

Looking to get the RK Sport rear spoiler for my Mosaic Black 2017 2SS.

I never liked the wing, and have planned to replace it since before I purchased this vehicle. I wanted something that was a little more subtle and flows with the body lines better.

My dilemma: I don't have any other carbon fiber pieces on this vehicle. I have a paint matched front splitter on order, but not installed yet.

Would it look like crap to just have a carbon fiber rear spoiler?

I was going to go the less expensive route and order fiberglass, but by the time I get it primed/painted, it'll be close to the cost of the carbon fiber one.

I attached a couple pics of my car and one of the spoiler for reference.

Will not look like crap, though for me I would go after the anderson composites spoiler for the price. Carbon fiber looks black when light is not hitting it, but gives off a nice sheen when it does.

I get what you are asking, I personally think if you CF the back end, you must have some companion pieces that it matches: mirrors, front splitter, etc. however, since CF cannot be repaired if damaged, the splitter is something I would not do in CF.

Trade an RS for their trunk lid, wrap the wing in CF vinyl.

You'll have the same effect, and cost you almost nothing in comparison.

No? It looks like a replica of the RS spoiler. I wouldn't pay to have it re-done in CF or fiberglass.

edit: meh, it looks a bit different from the stock RS spoiler. But not enough to spend hundreds on, to me.

That's exactly what I was thinking. I'm not anti-carbon fiber, but a lonely carbon fiber spoiler seems like it would be out of place.

I honestly wouldn't be against trading someone with a mosaic black RS trunk, but the logistics of that, meeting up, doing the work, what if they have swirl marks, etc.. just seems like a giant PITA.

I found a shop in town that will paint the fiberglass one for $150, so I think I'm going to go that route.

BTW.. finally got the lip spoiler on! Surprisingly easy to install.

If they paint it, make sure they bake it, some do , some don't. Mine is 18 months old and needs to be repainted, starting to show mini buckshot a bit, I'll drcolorchip.com It, then cover it with XPEL when finished...
