I haven never seen and LS1 car in a junkyard here. I'd be in heaven if I did, I'd pull so many parts since they have no idea what any of them are worth.

But knowing some yards around here.. they DO know what they're worth, and won't part out a complete engine. Blown or not. Blown 3.8 (rod through block) still wanted 1000 bucks! 2300 bucks for a complete running engine with 140K miles. A friggin V6! Yeah, you may have a stroke now. Probably could have gotten 5K easy out of my engine/trans if I hadn't saved the car. Oh well.. trying to transplant it into a third gen would have been hell. |

Not if you were without that wonderful mass of 8 cylinders that would have been the harvested heart of my bird for probably a month and a half..
That would have been the major BS. 20/20.. probably would have cost me less too. But eh, live and learn. If she gets hit any harder by an idiot (it happens..) I know for a bonafide fact that everything driveline is peachy and ready for plug and play. Ok.. so with my bills planned out yet again (lay off season baby!) I'm gonna start budgeting my next mod. Should I: - Y pipe and run it off the stock Cats (want to maintain almost stock backpresure but prep for possible race cats and LTs) - LTs bolted up to stock Y (if thats even possible..) - Something else..? |

i went with the SLP 2.5 inch y-pipe that mates to the stock cats. when i do headers/high flows i will need to change the y-pipe. if you aren't planning on headers/high flows for a while i would get the SLP y like i did, it is real nice.

Could always just go full TSP from manifolds to the tail pipes and call it a day. Pull my whole mess, get what I need welded and then respray it with header paint again since it already just looks badass totally blacked out under there. |

I do not know of any headers that mount to stock cats, but I haven't ever looked at the shorties. SLP is the only one I know of that sells a Y like that.

I'm just speaking from experience, never seen an LS1 in a junkyard around here. Much less being lucky enough to get there before it's stripped. Had 94' formula show up at one and in 3 days the motor was gone and most of the interior. Stuff goes fast around here.

it does when there is a 2 3/4" clamp missing and a bolt/nut missing pipes dont fit into each other...the freaking hanger for the drivers side pipe is welded on wrong so yea...gg Hooker...the SLP Y-Pipe had 0 issues. you would think when a company sells something like this that they would test fit pieces before boxing it up...
