Tremec 6060 2nd gear troubles????

If you have had trouble with your M6 transmission, let's here you.
there are a few threads here on some of the problems.
I would like to hear what you encountered, and at what mileage.
my car is at the dealership getting a new transmission because of 2nd gear grinding, and i mentioned to them the website and all the complaints about the M6.
They have been in contact with GM customer support, and are curious how many are experiencing problems and the nature of the problems.
so lets hear it, and maybe they will read em and do something about it in a TSB.

Voted! Mostly notchy 2nd and 3rd but also missed shifts at high rpms, like hitting a brick wall. Doesn't happen every time but occassionally. Definatly a syncro type problem. I never had any of the clutch issues like sticking or high pedal engagement like some others had.

The notchy shifting gets better on hot summer days when the trans is warmed up. Also is most noticable at lower and higher rpm's, works the best at around 4,000 rpm shifts. Some days are better than others! Definatly worse when cold!

I had it in 3 times since it was new (8,000 miles as of now) and always "no trouble found, or could not duplicate". I got a call from GM after e-mailing them and it looks like they are going to replace the transmission. Still waiting on call from the dealership that the replacement trans is in, hopefully by next week!

Thats kinda what they did with me.
At first they were going to repair mine, then said it would be 2 months for parts and special tools.
After calling GM they said replace the Trans. and check the clutch and plate. they also checked out bearing and slave.
My car only had 2900 miles and very little hard driving.
They said they knew of the problem and are doing their best to get it solved...Whatever that means?
I will definately report back here after i get her back, and try some spirited shifting.

My 2ss has 2400 miles on it and grinds from 2nd to 3rd occasionally. I took it in and they couldn't "replicate". When I bring her out in the spring I'm taking it back in, it really irritates me. It doesn't happen all the time but enough to be annoying.

No problems here to date (knock on wood), but that wasn't a choice in your poll.

My issue is pretty much having to muscle the 1-2 and 2-3 shift at high RPM. Occasional grind with the 1-2 shift.

Very hard to shift. I already went to my dealer and received the B.S. response, operating as it should.

My gear's don't grind, but sometimes at the track under High RPM's (5000-6500) it won't go into 3rd gear. Very annoying.

1st & 2nd gear are extremely notchy, which is why I assume it is so hard to shift. Going from 2nd-3rd is notchy some shifts and some times a little bit smoother.

I had the grinding. GM has a redesigned carbon fibre syncro to fix the problem. It started when the weather got cold, at first only did it when cold, then it started doing it when warmed up, maybe around 5k miles. Mine seems to be fixed now with the new style syncros.

Got my car back last week, replaced transmission for the 2nd-gear grind thing, better than ever with the shifting.
still notchy, but we live with that don't we?!

I've posted in another thread about this too. Add me to the list. 7k miles, 1-2 grinding, notchy when accelerating under any condition (hard and soft accels). 1-2 is not notchy when parked and engine running or when the engine is off. It doesn't do it all the time but the cold seems to make the grinding happen more often.

I haven't taken it to the dealer yet. I'm waiting a little while until the problem becomes a little more predictable or until someone confirms a document has been published which outlines the problem. I've had the run around from dealerships before and would rather not waste my breath.

I've had my clutch stick to the floor on hard launches and it seems like I'm constantly grinding going from 1st to 2nd during high rev shifts.

I've been told by the dealer and a GM rep that the clutch issue is "normal". OH WOW MAN!
