Racing Stripes.. Oily look?
Goood Morning!
So my racing stripes are the matte black looking ones on my cgm. I tried to wax around the stripes and ended up getting some on them and it made them look oily-ish where the wax got on. Is there a trick to maintaining those or a special wash for them so they dont look like that? Anyone else have this issue? It doesnt look bad until you are up standing at the front of the car and it bothers me. Ive tried scrubbing them with auto soap and have considered waxing them too but i dont like the finish it leaves.. |

You might try Adam's Super VRT (vinyl, rubber, and tire treatment). It makes vinyl and rubber look nice and dark, but not shiny.

They'll just fade and peel off anyways. I suggest that you drink heavily.

I found that the Mother's brand has a good product for cleaning up the stripes. That is what I used. They look awesome now.
Mother's product was about $7 bucks. Worked great!

Even better is to use polishes that don't leave a residue on the plastic parts of our vehicles. As for the slight discoloration of the vinyl stripes. I wash, wax, tape, then use a non oily vinyl cleaner that I can also use on my interior. Like a meguiars non greasy vinyl protectant for 7 dollars. Comes out looking killer clean, non oily and i didn't have to spend 25 bucks. Last edited by Sweet Zness; 09-14-2011 at 01:14 AM. |
