I have raced a couple of Bosses and they ran 12.5 and better bone stock. I think if the boss diver can drive at all you lose by at least a couple of cars in the 1/4. Typically the person that buys a Boss is a serious driver.

Boss is a low to mid 12 car....that's where you will need to be or lower to beat one with a good driver. I have seen Boss's run 12.3 stock all day at atco.

Yep, the Boss has more power and lighter than you with your current setup op. As already stated, ppl that buy them usually enjoy racing.
Adding LTH and a tune will make things more interesting for you since those two things really open up an SS auto, not to mention adding +40 whp. Throw in a decent cam and you will definitely have an edge over a stock Boss (+60 whp). IMO the Boss is the best stock Mustang made and I give a lot of credit to Ford making it right. |

Well if it really does come down to driver then I might be in luck because I know he isn't the best driver.

If you have a boss you have the track key. Do some only come with one? My cousin has a boss 302 laguna seca prototype and It has two keys. I was eaten alive all last year with a 13 1le. All summer I was second. The pirelli tires have a wear rating of 60. Where the g2's are 220. Ripped out of the hole every time at the dragstrip. I have some upgrades this year and am undefeated so far this year but have to get to the strip for some times.

As mentioned, you really need some long tube headers and a tune. Those mods put a Camaro SS in a different category as far as performance.
With long tubes and a tune, you'll have a low 12 sec car with some decent tires that can hook. |

Regarding your camaro, no headers... no chance

Yeah, don't dismiss the Boss. Somebody who can row the gears with a vengence is going to be hard to beat.
But with a lot drag racing using a MANual boils down to seat time and tires. It was not unusual for a good driver with tires in a 4th gen to humiliate a Viper at the the strip.

Dumb story - When the 03 Terminator Cobras came out, there was interwebbythingy chatter about high 11's being easy.
When reality sunk in, many drivers were struggling to run high 12's consistantly. We were at the track with our Vette, and a good friend who bought a Terminator and was stuck in the mid 12's threw me the keys. It became one of the first 03's to run 11's. Nothing changed but the driver. I was not "gentle" with his car.

What he says, otherwise it's down to who gets the best launch and keeps his foot in it.

The Boss is quicker then a GT down the quarter mile by a couple of tenths. It won't be too happy for long at the strip but it will do well at the strip and probably beat you looking at your mods.
