We Crazy In Texas, ZL1 found in Pool [updated w/ video]

Saw this on the news .

Video:

HOUSTON -

It's not every day you see a brand new, high performance sports car sitting at the bottom of a swimming pool, but that's exactly what drew a crowd in northwest Harris County.

Investigators say the driver of a 2014 Chevy Camaro ZL1 was driving too fast and lost control on the 12000 block of Innsbruk Court near Bammel North Houston and Champion Forest Drive, went through a fence, and into a community pool.

"Whoa. That's kind of crazy," said neighborhood resident Kelvin Dorsey. "Imagine if I have my child and my baby's mother walking past here and that was to happen and I was to get hit."

Ashton Brantley, who knows the driver, said he saw everything.

"I was driving right behind him the whole time," said Brantley. "He lost control, and I think he took his traction control off. And then he just hit the curb, and then went into the fence, and then he hit the pool."

A tow truck driver had to hop in the pool, go underwater, and secure chains to pull out the car.

As folks grabbed their smartphones to record the event -- the car's driver also watched anxiously. He had been able to crawl out of the car's open windows and swim out.

With the use of a remote control the car was lifted up over the fence it had driven through, and onto dry ground.

"It's definitely unusual, it's not an everyday event," said Precinct 4 Sgt. Brent Combs of the Harris County Constable's Office. "The good thing about it is that nobody was injured so that's what we are mainly concerned about."

The driver could be cited for either failure to control speed, unsafe speed or other charges.

Any damage to the pool, including any chemicals spilled from the car into the water, will be handled by the driver and his insurance company.

I hate these lead ins. They'll show me how to remove a car from the pool at 10 but I want to get mine out now.

/More interested in seeing it go in than come out.
