Dealer won't give service records?

My grandpa passed and I have his 2012 Buick Regal GS now. 33k miles, always serviced at dealer. Went to the dealer about a service bulletin on it as the brake pedal sticks and the bulletin says to replace the brake pedal assembly. This is on a wide range of GM cars so not sure why it wasn't a recall.



Guy tells me it won't be covered, so I ask for a price and he says he can't give one because it may not be the problem and needs to diagnose the car. Tell him to quote me as it is so I have a ballpark (i know thats the problem). Pedal assembly quoted at $137 but no price for labor as he said he needs to talk to mechanic? 4 hours have gone by and still no call. Asked him to print out a copy of service records on the car and he said well your grandpa should already have them. What?! Hit print. He says he will "work on it" and get back to me


Is this normal?

Find a new dealer or call the service manager. That service advisor is an asshole.

Your car records are just as important as your haircut records. If this PII information gets into the wrong hands that dealer could be liable for huge dollars. I mean talk about Identity Theft, someone driving around the same car with the same oil and the driver has the same haircut as you!!!

He's a miserable human being and likes to take it out on customers.

Go online and leave a 1-star review for them as well and call him out by name. I had a dealership call me one day falling all over themselves to figure out how to make me happy and remove the review once.

Will all GM dealers have access to the service history on a given GM car (for all service performed under warranty or otherwise at a GM dealership)?

I’m pretty sure on the recall for his Buick he will have to go to a Buick dealer. Maybe Gearhead SS(Jeff)can chime in on your question as he works for GM.

Go straight to the General Manager of the Dealership and voice your concerns. If that does not work find another dealership!

yes all gm dealers will have them. he could have gave you a price for part, labor, and history within a few minutes.
