what is the ss top speed

Last weekend I hit 150 before letting out of it and I was pulling pretty good yet. That is the fastest I ever went before in a vehicle and don't need to go any faster but was wondering what others have reached thanx

I think it's governed at 155 due to the tires.

Yes the speed limiter takes over at 155(on the DIC)according to my speedometer i was able to maintain 158 mph.I did this 3 different times on the way to my race.

A few years ago motortrend had it removed with no other mods and the SS then went like 176??? I would assume the 1LE would be about the same, maybe slightly higher??

I think the smaller gears in the 1le reduce top speed to improve acceleration. Could be wrong.

True the final drive in the differential is different, but so is the gearing in the transmission. If you look at them combined its nearly identical.

Tires are good to 186. 155 is just where they thought a good place to set it would be. Like someone earlier said, a magazine took one out to Bonneville with the limiter tuned out and hit low 170s

Yep, stock Camaro SS (speed limiter removed) hit low 170s in testing.

155 is the "Gentlemen Agreement" number that BMW/Audi/Mercedes all have. Not sure how that influenced GM but there it is.
