Don't know about the rattle. Freaky.

Ask one of the custom Driveshaft guys to give a listen.

I'd like to see the inside of the new driveshaft coupler design, [edit] found it, its a poly joint, not much there to make a metal rattling noise.
Nope. Becaue all the noise is coming forward of the vehicle up by the tranny, I would be shocked if it's the diff.

Kinda glad..... ...... but shocked.

It is the internal spindle shaft the clutchs sit on. The welds are known weak spot and one or more of the 4 spot welds have broke. Circle D welds all the way round it.

Anyone know for sure if the driveshaft bolts are a 'one off' bolt?

Single use? I hear a lot of them are anymore so you're prolly right. I hear it's a bitch to re-center the D/S once you remove it too

Ok. PMed him. I'm going home to get the car up off the ground and try to get a good look at it. NOT gonna remove the shaft now though. No need to waste money on bolts just to take a look. Just want to get some better idea of noise. Gonna stop and buy a listening device though.

And if this is a joke Pete.

I'll be the dumbass who goes into Auto Zone and ask for car stethescope and them laugh their asses off. (My dad sending me for a board stretcher as a kid comes to mind.)

Pick me up some blinker fluid while you're there. Might check the price of sail boat fuel too if you don't mind.

Board stretcher looks like a modified pecker puller

It clamps to the pecker, or beak if you prefer, and pulls.
