1LE Struts/ Shocks versus FE2,3,4 Struts/shocks

I know the rears are a monotube type and the fronts are valved different, but looking for a resident "pro" to explain the differences and advantages of making the switch. Mine are in the garage waiting on the springs to get here for the install thread.

Well after changing mine from FE3 to FE6 on the 1LE the ride is very firm. You can really feel that the valving is much more aggressive than the standard SS. There's also much more control over the weight of the car with these struts and shocks. Its a great alternative for those looking to improve handling but don't want to spend the money for coil overs.

How would these improve the handling and ride quality on a 2011 ss with BMR 1.4" springs all the way around?

I can tell my stock struts / shocks can't handle the ride height.

None can really, they make the springs to work as good as they can with the shocks. My fe4 shocks work well to control them without being stiff. I would think these will just be a stiffer ride but quicker to react as designed. Still will have the aburpt spring action to bumps and the less travel problems though

The 1LE dampers have a more aggressive damper map. If you would take the time to measure you ride heights Pedders style, I can comment on ride quality. You'll need a level place to measure, 1/4 tank of fuel and the car as empty as it was new.

From the lip of the wheel rim, up through the wheel center to the painted edge of the fender. This measurement is repeatable and eliminates tire size and inflation as variables.

From what I am seeing on another post it may be too low from a ride quality stand point?

You sir are LOW.

OE is on average

Front 690mm
Rear 700mm

690
-641
____
49mm or 2" lower than OE

700
-641
_____
59mm or 2.3" Lower than stock

The upgrade from OE V6 damping and a reduction in drop from2" to 1.5 will absolutely improve your ride and handling.

One last question. Aside from the 3/4 tank of fuel is there any other additional weight in your 5th Gen? i.e. 2,000,000 watt stereo, dead bodies, bricks
