They are Lorenzo WL 028 18x9.5" w/Micky Thompson ET Drag Radial 305/45R18. I got them from Mike @ BestWheelDeals (he is on Camaro5). That's also where i got my XO Miami 20x10" daily drivers.

ZL1 rear end

Well, i broke an axel (see top right) at the track yesterday (video coming). Every day is a fun day at the track, but my times were very dissapointing. I'll blame a lot of it on the driver . But my 60' times were terrible 1.9 & 2.0 and my 1/4 mile ETs were all around 11.7 . I'm going to blame it on belt slip that i think i discovered at the dyno and definitely my driving...trying to make the transition from dump the clutch to slip the clutch.

Anyway, i have the old drive train out (took about 3 hours, but i didn't have the right size socket to remove the trans flange)...hope to have the new in by next weekend...

ZL1 rear Install

Started my install tonight. Removing the trans flange was a PITA. I replaced 2 bushings on the ZL1 diff. I didn't see how the 3rd pushing would come out (not near as much clearance as on the SS). So i left it as is .

Diff is installed as well as passenger axel. I hope to finish up tomorrow between sons baseball, daughters play, and family dinner .

ZL1 rear/drive train install complete

I finished up my ZL1 drive train upgrade. At them moment everything feels pretty good. I am going to need a longer rubber hanger for the passenger side exhaust...if i use the current hanger, i have no clearance between the exhaust and the new diff. A few zip ties will hold it for a little while.

Now just waiting for my shorter belts to see if i can get the whipple to pull strong upto 7000 rpm...should be here this week, then i finally get to try out my 3" pulley!

Can't wait to get back to the dyno and track! I've got to get in the 10s...but i have a far ways to go!

That's a killer build! I bet with the 3.73 gears in the ZL1 diff will help your 60' time in the 1/4 mile, if u didn't already change them, didn't see it in the build. Only wish I could do mine that qwik!

Thanks. I'm looking forward to getting back to the track and improving my 60'. I was still running 3.45 prior to Sunday. My best 60' was a 1.8. In addition to the 3.73, i'm hoping to be +100 more hp . I just received my new 10-rib belts from whipple, so now i can run my 3" pulley! I'm hoping to see better than 800 rwhp...we'll know in a few weeks!

That will make a big difference (the smaller pulley) HP!, even with the 3.73's you should get good 60' times. A 4.10 or even a 4.30 gear would be best for quarter mile times especially 60' times, but will hurt it in some hi speed road courses and top speed runs and some street manners, but with a blower you got plenty of torque anyway!
