Low oil pressure

Ok so I've noticed lately my oil pressure at idle is low. Before I would see 1.9-2.0bar now I'm seeing 1.4-1.5bar. I'm running the melling oil pump. Only think I've noticed is the lifters sound louder but nothing bad. Holds 3bar oil pressure on the highway.
Car runs fine.

Did the pressure drop right after installing the Melling pump?

No. I've had the pump all summer. Just hear recently I've been seeing the low pressure.

Low oil pressure

Is 20 psi at warm idle considered low?

Mine is at 50 psi cold idle then about 37 psi when hot.. but I have a CAM and idle set to 750 rpm With a load its at right 70psi.. thats with a melling high pressure.
This is running the stock mobile oil that it calls for.

But, I want to say the pressures were higher a little and there wasn't such a noticeable psi change between hot and cold like there is now. mines been in about a year as well.

Main bearing failure.

+1 Main bearing failure will eventually happen. When I hear about low oil pressure issues I always wonder what brand and weight motor oil and oil filter people are choosing to use?? I always recommend using Mobil 1 5W30 or Valvoline SynPower 5W30 synthetic motor oil and AC Delco oil filters.

Having a high pressure pump does nothing for idle pressure. Melling has 3 versions of pumps. Which one do you have? Also when it was installed was it done correctly (shimming while installing)? There could be many reasons for the loss of pressure (pickup tube O-ring, clogged pickup tube, worn pump, bearings, sensor,...) I would get oil analysis done to confirm engine wear before starting any tear down.

My Melling just failed last month. Check valve stuck open. Drove from my house to the store, it was fine. When I got back in car and started it, I had no oil pressure.

I had probably 12,000 miles on it. Thank god I was still parked when I was alerted, NO OIL PRESSURE.
