Kooks high flow cats.

Has anyone put kooks long tubes with high flow cats on and not popped a check engine light? I bought a 2015 zl1 on Monday and it has them but no check engine light. I already have an appointment with speed inc to dyno the car and check my air fuel ration to make sure it is safe. Until then I plan on keeping the car out of boost. I am just wondering if long tubes with high flow cats always means check engine light? The dealership I bought the car from had no idea if the car was tuned.

Even with no cats they can be tuned to run properly in closed loop mode and no lights.
Tuning and a sensor extension might be required.

I run Kooks long tube headers 1-7/8 with high flow cats. Never had an engine light go on. You car needs to be tuned, a quality shop will fix the problem. How ever a cat could be melted or blown out, its more common than you think.

Did you run the with headers no tune at all or did you tune them right away? Mine will be going in on May 15th to check the air fuel ratio and tune if it not safe.

The MIL will occur due to the rear O2 sensors producing signals out of range, regardless of AFR. The DTC's for the rear O2's need to be turned off, regardless of whether or not the airflow model needs updated.

Ok cool. So is this somthing that happens 100 percent of the time? My car has headers with high flow cats but not a MiL on. It will be checked but just trying to see if it is most likely tuned or not.

I have kooks 2" headers and kooks high flow cats no MIL, as said above your tuner need to turn DIC off for the rear O2's that will stop the MIL, also I have not melted them (yet) with many 1/4 miles runs but I am on E85 and that helps.

Never had an issue at the 1/4, but once I started tracking is when you better watch.

It might be okay if you have the Kooks/GESi "green" cats, but not a guarantee. Those codes can take a while to set, actually.
