Any paint chipping?

I've asked this type of question in the general section and it seems like there are several that are seeing paint chipping. However some have mentioned that it seems like the warmer southern states are not seeing the chipping as bad as others.

So...being in TX....have you seen chipping on your car? I would think behind the wheels and the front bumper would be where most of it happens.

Then the next quesiton comes into play. Are any of you putting on a Clear Bra? Is so where are you putting it on the car and roughly how much did you have to pay? I didn't really want to spend another $500-$800 on a mod that most people wouldn't even notice. I would much rather buy a CAI and Shifter for that kind of money.

Chipping: Yes. It is my daily driver, and as I've mentioned before when driving back from Grapevine I got 3-4. It's going to happen whether you like it or not, only a matter of time...

... Unless you get some type of protection. I will be adding splash guards and (once all my chips have been filled in which I will do during the Spring) I will be getting a clear bra. You say you don't want to pay for a mod that people wont notice. Think of it like you're paying for a mod SO people people wont notice - because they aren't there .

If you drive the car, something WILL happen. You cannot avoid it unless your car never sees the road.

We have got several on ours in the five months we've had it, one on the top, just above drivers seat, got one at the very tip of the nose, just above the Chevy emblem the SECOND day we had it and it was so big and ugly I had to use some touch up paint on it just to cover up the big black spot. Also have a few on the front bumper and one on the driver's mirror. There is so much junk out on these Texas roads it is a miracle we don't have more damage. Plus all the rain we have had has brought so much mud on the roads and many small pebbles that it is like a sandblaster at times. My 2006 Corvette's nose looks terrible with all the chips. We do a lot of back road cruises and they are famous for having lots of road debris on them because of all the side road traffic tracking in mud and junk.

Yes, I have a chipped front bumper where it comes to a "V" shape. I'm really not sure if it's from road debris, or not. I've never tapped anything with the car, light or hard. :(

Yes, already have small rock chips on hood, roof (!) and near gills. Oddly enough, plastic front bumper cover still looks good.

Small chip on the lower left of the front fascia from road debris. Very small chips from road debris acros the front, but it is my daily driver.

My wife dinged the driver's door but I had it repaired...I notice where it was but that's just me.

I also noticed the paint chipping at the seam where the front fascia meets the front fender, but the guy who repaired my door ding touched it up.

yeah i got a lot of chips on my black paint. have one of the roof about drivers seat, 2 on the hood, a lot of on the gills on both sides, a few up by the gas cap, and a few on the top of the front bumper where the bowtie is. Also my rally stripes have small chips in them too. It is my daily driver but it seems the paint is chipping way too easy. i filled in the bigger chips with some touch up paint but im leaving the smaller one until spring.

has anyone contacted the dealer about this problem?

yeah i keep getting swirls too. i mean it is impossible to keep your paint perfect unless you just dont drive it at all lol. im going to have to spend a couple days in the spring buffing everything out.

the thing with the clear bra is what if you have a bunch of swirls, chips, etc on your paint and then you put the CB on? will you be able to buff any of those swirls out? or will you not be able to touch anything under the CB at all?

You will not be able to buff them out because the film is on top of them. You will also not be able to see any swirl marks as the adhesive on the film fills them in and hides them. Ideally you want to get the film on the car while it is new so that the paint is perfect.

I have found that using Zaino regularly and a power leaf blower to dry the vehicle really minimizes any chances of getting swirl marks.
