Supercharge the 1LE??

Since the announcement of the 1LE, would you future ZL1 owners cancel your order and slap a TVS2300 on top of a 1LE and call it a day?

ZL1 already comes with forged portions of the engine already, so it's still a stronger setup.

If warranty means anything to you.. go with the ZL1. 580HP with an all forged motor with a factory warranty, what more could you want? On top of that, 6 piston brembos up front and magnetic ride control... from what I've gathered, there is no word on whether or not the 1LE will have the MRC. Besides, the ZL1 looks awesome! the 1LE just looks like any other modded SS. I, personally, do not care for all of the black accents on the 1LE.

The LSA isn't even close to fully forged......

....in fact that is a major complaint I have with it....

Biggest thing for me about the ZL1 vs a supercharged 1LE is the suspension and more importantly, the engine.

This is a typical "slap a supercharger on it and you'll have a *insert car here*" kind of assumption. Its NOT the same car.

I doubt any of the people who have ZL1s on order will cancel them to wait another year for the 1LE. They've waited long enough for a ZL1, why give up now because of a lesser camaro?

No not switching the ZL1 has most of what I was waiting for. But the 1LE will help to fill the void between the SS and ZL1 and you get to have a warranty to boot. They should have used some unique rims on the 1LE imo, nice looking car for the money.
In addition alot of R&D went into the ZL1 so that alll the parts worked well togather. To slap on a charger to the 1LE and expect the same results, ain"t going to happen.

The crank is forged steel, rods are forged steel, pistons are... hyper-eutectic cast aluminum...

I'd rather just stick with a ZL1 and call it a day as opposed to supercharging a 1LE and have zero warranty and approach the cost of what i could have just bought in the first place.

I'd rather have a ZL1 or a cammed 1LE than a supercharged 1LE.

The 1LE and the ZL1 are two different cars.

I do not think ZL1 owners will want to switch back to a modded 1LE. They are getting a more sophisticated track/street suspension, bigger brakes, a stronger differential, a different hood, better resale, a warranty, and a cooler badge along with that LSA.

However OP you make a great point. The 1LE is the perfect base for those who want to mod their Camaro. The 1LE is at least 200 pounds lighter than the ZL1. If you add full bolt-ons and a cam the LS3 can get pretty close to the same RWHP as the ZL1. So yes, you can have ZL1 performance at a bargain price. But you will not have a ZL1.

However, if you want to go further with the LS3 you can. This weekend at Atco there was a stock block forged LS3 FI powered Camaro putting out 1,100 HP at the crank running 9.30s. So if you want to start modding the LS3 the sky is the limit.
