Gas guzzler tax?
I am asking this because I have never had to worry about this.
I see the leaked prices for the 2014 Camaro there are two options for a Gas Guzzler tax. (one manu/one auto) They both say ZL1 after them but I know the SS still gets one. What was anyone with a current SS/ZL1's gas guzzler tax? Are these numbers also for next years SS? or are they too high? How is a gas guzzler tax added? to the retail price of the car? or do you have a separate way to pay? ie your when you file taxes I apologize for the questions but you know how confusing taxes can be. |

The SS doesn't get a GG tax. The Z/28 (almost guaranteed) and the ZL1 will get it.

For the 2013 ZL1, the gas guzzler tax is $1300 for manual and $2600 for auto.
It is listed as an option and is included with the cost of the vehicle in the MSRP. Funny thing, its a tax upon which you will pay state sales tax. |

Yup... it's a tax on a tax, except GM is the one paying the gg tax then it's carried onto the sticker price and you get to pay a little extra tax to your state. |

I don't have an SS, but I wonder if the skip shift had anything to do with avoiding the gg tax.

Not the case for the manual as it can be shifted in this manner without the help of skip shift.

Yes it can, but from what I understand, the computer locks out 2-3 gears at low throttle input, low rpm situations from a stand still. This can all be bypassed via a skip shift eliminator. Not sure what impact that has on a warrenty, if anything at all.

This is the best news I've heard all month! I thought that the SS also had the GG tax. I will definitely be able to afford the NPP and the back up camera.
