They hooked on the street and track for me better than nitto 555r's, got more miles out of them also. They do hum on the highway though. They work well for the money if your car is under 600hp. The weight rating is just under recommended for the 5th gen but work fine.

Ok thanks for the reply, maybe I better play it safe and go with Michelin pilot super sports.

You need to ascertain what you put more weight towards, grip or decibel level. We have done countless miles with wheel and tire combos on the 5th gen. Nothing sticks like the R888. But you will give up a little on the cabin noise.

These are considered Competition tires. Lots of High horspower cars running them on the street with good results but they will wear faster. Its hard to get past the physics of a softer stickier tire not wearing faster. If you want something more well rounded look at the Michelin Super Sports but they do not have as much dry grip as the R888.

What about consistency? In Miata world, NT01s, and even older Toyo R1Rs, etc. are preferred over R888s since they are not as consistent as some other options. In Camaro world, Nittos only come in 20" 1LE size, which is great if you'll use your OEM wheel, but bad if you'd rather get an adiditonal set for track use in 19" sizes.

Rudy - I just purchased a set of R888s (295x30x19) from TR for my 2013 1LE to use on track days. I had the installer inflate them to 32psi.

What is the recommended tire pressure range to use on the track?

Thanks!

Inconsistency comes more from too many heat cycles on the tires then anything. The Miata guys liked the RA1 over the R888 because they were more used to that tire and the R888 required some different suspension setup then RA1's.
We used the R888 when we raced in World-Challenge and they worked great.

That's encouraging to say the least. I'd still hope for other brands to also start offering tires at these sizes.
