The build rate is 3 per line per shift, on average. C6 Vette production in Bowling Green ended on March 1st, so LS7-only production will total approx. 10 months. The last tour I was a part of was 2 years ago. At that time, 6 lines plus the Customer Build line were active.

Has anyone been through Wixom, lately?

Or has Reuss tipped us to the fact that Wixom will continue beyond the "Corvette shift to Bowling Green"?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=dofT6IicUmQ
So how many shifts and how many lines are they using now?

Just some quick math on the 6 lines you stated put it at over 7000 engines for 10 months.(assuming 2 shifts)

Do the crate LS7s get built there as well?

Im sure my math is way off but even half of that number would indicate there should be more than 1500 Z/28s

dammit GM release some more details!!!!

Yes the crate LS7 and LS9 are built at Wixom as well.

As of 08/11, the time of the in-plant video, ONE 10-hour shift per day, Mon-Fri. The "target" was 3 engines per shift per man/line.

1 shift, only (as of 8/11)

Wixom PBC was very flexible in its assembly schedule. Each line could build any of the three engines assembled there: LS3 "dry" (C6 Vette GS-MN6), LS7 and LS9.

Does the Performance Build Center currently assemble the dry-sump LT1 used in the C7 Z51? If so, it may be busy assembling those until the BG PBC is up-and-running...

So the question requiring an answer is: what exactly is Wixom currently assembling?

....Hmmmm.....They are going to build the LS7 crate engines somewhere other than Ky....(Crate engines are a different animal than those used for factory assembled cars....?....)

The LS7 is a gen IV engine that is ending....I don't see the new KY engine plant building ls7's for the Z/28 at all....I'd say they are already done/built for the Z/28, so there is a finite number available.......

I'm probably wrong somewhere in there, but if they were mixing in the Z/28 engines already at Wixom, can't see the likelihood of a new KY plant just for those....

Don't forget that the last C6 vette was built months ago... so whatever is being built has to be stacking up. I have a feeling there will be a lot more of the z/28 s built than most think.

Not necessarily. The Bowling Green PBC operation: was it operational at SOP of C7 Vette? If not, again, where do the "dry" LT1s come from? Were they coming from Wixom?

Does anyone have definitive "inside" info? If so, and you're shy for obvious reasons, please pm me...

Until we know how many they will build, I think talking price is irrelevant (I guess it's kinda fun though). People could wait to get one, then Chevy announces they are only building 100 or some "each dealer gets one, let the bidding start". If that happens I think they would go for at least double or triple MSRP which would have them around 150K or more (maybe way more).

..the price will be more than 56.5K as spoken in the Leno expose'....but, in real world terms, it wont be a deal breaker. Availabilty, that's another question...

Won't availability determine "actual" price, rather than MSRP? Also I wonder if it will be a one or two year run. Maybe 2015 MY only?

The thread is about MSRP not about what dealers try to get for it. That will be different for each and every dealer. GM has no control over that.
