Once in a lifetime opportunity.

I would love a chance to drive across the country in my SS.

I still have the dream of hitting all the states in at least the lower 48 in one trip, perhaps also up into the 10 provinces of Canada and into Alaska on the same trip.

Don't really know how I can work Hawaii into the mix...

I just drove 800 miles from Tx to Co and the only complaint is my right shoulder area was cramping real bad. I'm not really sure why since my normal daily driving doesnt do this.

Oh, and I got up to 25mpg (according to the DIC) in my SS on the trip!

imagine 20 years down the road and you can tell that story of how you drove your black camaro across the country, that is a dream to most people. And in those years that money you spent wont really mean anything, if i was in the position to be able to do so, i would do it. Take Rout 66! that is something i want to do one day so bad. But as far as having things replaced, i would only get an oil change when i get back.

Change the oil, get the tires to the proper pressure, and GO.

Nothing like driving cross country in an awesome car. You bought it to drive it right? What better opportunity.

Where in NY are you moving to? UpstateC5 is a great group of people if you want some fellow enthusiasts to hang out with once you get here

I wouldn't use a radar detector in VA or CT. Maybe some other states, I'd check online to see where else they are not legal.

I did it last year with my brother in law from San Diego to Tampa in a 1975 Ford F100 4x4 pulling a 78 CJ5 in August with no AC. It was one of my best vacations ever. We hit Route 66 or what's left of it from Cali to Texas then headed south. Route 66 through Arizona was awesome. Some truely incredible sites.

I wouldn't if I were you. The fact that you are asking the question indicates your heart isn't into it. But if you do.... Buy a used tire and take it with you, you don't really want to be looking for a 21" tire at midnight do you? Do you think Cletus can slap the rubber on your rim without scratching it? It is a 21" wheel... Low profile tires are more vulnerable to blowouts and bent rims caused by poor roads. Can you afford it? Gas, meals and hotels cost money. It would only be worth it if you could take some time to go the long road, Yosemite, Carlsbad Caverns, Mt Rushmore, whatever is on the way.

I did it! 3 times to be exact in my 2010 Camaro. Two of the times were actually by myself. The first time I drove it across I was super scared of people vandalizing and whatnot, but as long as you stay in decent areas all should be well. Two of the times I drove across the weather was b-e-a-u-t-f-u-l. However, this last time I drove from California to NY in May was awful. There was a freak snow storm on the Sierras and I actually am still alive talk about said experience (the car actually did well and there were 5 inches of snow on the ground). Some guy with no teeth had to put cable chains on my car and I cried the whole time. Then I had to follow said snow storm for about 3 days until the weather cleared up. It was probably the scariest driving experience of my life, but like I said, the Camaro actually did fine as long as I started it in 2nd each time.

Anyway, at this time of the year, you should be fine. I moved home to NY permanently, so normally if I were returning to CA, I would actually be driving across right now. The country is beautiful. DO ITTTT! (Just not in any freak snow storms).

I realy don't understand why people are afraid to drive there cars. The Camaro has its quirks but all in all it is a well built car. I drove mine from Dallas to Seattle and it was a great ride.
