Help with exhaust decision
Currently I'm trying to decide between three cat-back exhaust systems:
- Flowmaster American Thunder - Borla Touring - Borla S-Type I'm having trouble figuring out which to go for though. I meant to call a few exhaust shops in the area but did not get around to it. Can anyone give me an estimate for the cost of these systems if I got them installed from a local distributor? From what I've gathered, the prices for purchasing online directly for retail are much higher than local distributors. Also, I've been watching clips but can't tell how much the of the drone I will notice with the s-type. I want something aggressive but I also have a 2000 mile roadtrip home after I graduate in May and another 1000 mile road trip later in the summer to Ft. Benning. I've never had a car with a performance exhaust so I've never experienced drone either and don't know how much of an annoyance it really is. If its something I won't really hear at 70-80 mph then I should be ok. Suggestions?

I just ordered the Flowmaster American Thunder for my car from Maryland Speed, a board member here. From all the clips I listened to, I thought the Flowmaster sound was very nice & deep with out being too loud at cruising speed. Everyone seems to like it after they install it......plus it's half the price of Borla and others.

Mark, did you install it yourself? Where is the best link you have found that is true to the sound? Thanks

I can answer you without a doubt that the Borla type S is a
awesome exhaust...Now i installed the axle back only...Cannot say if cat-back would be louder but...What i got 15771 Borla kit Louder than stock but not to crazy...When you punch it you hear it... Definetly awesome product...Fit & finish is also a premium product... Just my 2 cents... |

I did watch that Borla video and I definitely liked the sound! My only concern now about the Borla is price. I definitely can't spend the $1200-$1500 that are on some of the websites.

Flowmaster AMT for me. You can hear it inside at cruise, but I think you're supposed to. I put on a loud exhaust so I want to hear it! Very pleased.
Ordered from LMPerformance (member here). Ordered at 11am had it the next day before 4 pm. |

I am having Kooks LT 1 7/8" headers and a Borla cat back touring exhaust installed this week along with a tune. If you can wait a few days to make a decision, I'll post up a video for you when it is done.

Borla S type IMO. Like 010 Camaro SS said get the axle back (you can get them quite a bit cheaper then 750 tho) for now, and later get a set of Long tube headers down the road.

I would say YES...When you stand on it you really here it...
Definetly louder than stock...Also round tailpipes are bigger and double walled you REALLY see a difference... |
