Stupid Question About LS3 Engine Cover

Do any of the hard core guys run their car with out the engine cover for cooling purposes? Trying to make sure I do everything right first time out as far as prep is concerned. Will be taking drip/rain tray out for sure!!!

Hard core, no... without engine cover, yes. I've been doing it for over a year now, runs mucho cooler. I still have the drip tray in though.

What about the inner cover not the bog boxy cover that slaps you in the face when you open the hood?

The cover over the engine is off, the cover under the hood is still on to seal my CAI.

No cover, no rain trays, no seal in the back where the hood meets the body. Not hard core either, but that is what I do...

I've run without that ugly thing since I bought the car. Love the look of the LS without it. No issues at all.

If your planning on running in FS for scca autocross you'll need to have it on I had been running without one and was finally told that you can't pull it in FS

Interested in running SCCA autocross, but don't think I could run FS with my mods (LTH's, HFC's, CAI, coilovers). So hard to tell exactly where you fit in!

The SCCA rules regarding removal of trim are a bit asinine across the street classes.

Running ESP I can't remove trim or the back seats, but I can put a whole catalog of suspension and bolt-on engine parts on with the widest slicks I can fit...

Removing 4 lbs of dead weight and cleaning up your engine bay clearly makes this a racecar. -__-
