Aeroforce Interceptor Users - Questions

Hey yo,

After installing the V3 Vortech supercharger (complete kit), I also added a standard Boost/Vacuum guage, as well as an Aeroforce Interceptor gauge.

I have been tinkering around with the gauge and have a few questions. I appreciate the thoughts of those with experience of this wonderful guage.

1. The instructions state that you can set the shift light to be used and/or for warning lights in case a parameter gets too high or low. Is anyone using this? If so, what parameters at what ranges? Boosted cars I'm especially interested in.

2. The Air/Fuel condition gauge appears to be functioning, however I'm not sure where it is getting the data, since I do not have a wideband connected. Can anyone clarify?

3. Which fuel status parameter is most useful? Does the DI Fuel Pressure parameter work? I thought I scrolled through it and was not getting a reading. Or am I better off watching injector pulse or duty cycle?

What else do I need to know? Thanks.

1. That would be the annunciator function. Scroll thru to almost the end, you'll find it there. You can 'annunciate' or warn like a shift light, on either or both of the 2 displayed parameters. Then you will choose which parameters along with values and then whether to annunicate above or below the value.
2. AFR would be the commanded value, not a directly measured value. (kinda useless)
3. Rail pressure seems incorrect. For fuel items, duty cycle is more useful.

Sometimes its nice to set both parameter displays to knock retard and annunciate off of them. As I have an electric water pump, I usually display coolant temp along with knock retard.

Other things:
- the gauge interferes with Onstar diagnostic reporting.
- tunning devices don't get along with the gauge if you're using a OBD2 y-cable.

Good things, Ducatisl. Thanks very much for that.

Also:

How comfortable are you with the IAT read outs? I have been monitoring these, and they look pretty good. With my V3 intercooler, I am generally 3 to 6 degrees above ambient. Sounds about right, and I hope that is accurate.

Can you comment on "Desired Fuel Pressure"? Is this another configurable parameter? Mine seems stuck at 6.1 at all times... I'm pretty sure that isn't what I "desire"!

Good call also on confirguring the knock retard.

if is stuck at 6.1 than that mean your vehicle does not support that particular PID. I believe that's just a carried over numeric value while switching PID's. You can actually get your aeroforce to monitor real time AFR also. Just need to buy the wideband kit seperately. I noticed that all of the PID's on our gauge is not supported especially if you have a manual. Those tranny PID's are useless.

I have mine set to alert me if my boost is over 3lbs and my afr is over 12.5. I think that was it. I set it up a while ago. This thread reminds me to check exactly what it was. Lol.

Only automatic transmissions have the sensor data reporting on the OBD2 port. Also, there is no fuel pressure sensor on these cars so you're not going to get fuel pressure readings unless you add a sensor and connect to gauge.

From what it sounds like AFR is not accurate on this gauge unless you buy the wideband kit..
Can someone give me more detail on this and how to get AFR to work on this gauge.

I know this thread is old but can someone elaborate on this?
