What's the better intake for boosties
So I was looking at the Holley or edlebrock single plane or the new trending sheet metal mid ram intake.
Pros and cons on both would be great.

I've read many threads that the elbow on the single plane is too restrictive....

LOD intake is over $1000 more. Lol not looking to spend that much.

The stock intake is good for 1K horsepower. proven time and again...
Save on the intake and spend in other areas...

I'm using the holley high ram. You'll need an aftermarket hood though.
the single plane intakes are good if you have a pcm that can add fuel to the back 2 cylinders. they don't do very well at distributing airflow

For all round performance in the rpm range most users actually need....stock types are bloody hard to beat.
If it's for visuals then yes some of the Holley etc offerings do fit the bill, but expect a loss in performance over most of the rpm range ( unless you use 6500+ often ) and they do represent good value as long as the quality is half decent. The LOD Speedworks one....they popped up advertising a while back, but then seemed to disappear, so no idea if they ever made it into production ? Another who has popped up on some forums advertising was G1Pro, and although they could supply no evidence of testing to support their claims, the fabrication work is excellent, and range of options also pretty much unmatched. They'll pretty much build whatever height and runner length you want, within what will fit etc. But you're back into bigger money again. http://goertz1.pro/product/lsx-terminator-hi-ram/ Or if you dont quite have the room for a full HiRam, Shearer is offering this setup which is pretty cool. Would be nice as a fully fabricated piece, but using the Holley base would keep costs down I'm sure http://shearerfabrications.com/sf06-05001.html |
