'15 Z28 Help
Looking at a '15 Z28 with less than 2,000 miles, what should I be looking at, possible issues with a low mileage Z. Carfax shows one owner, regular maintenance and no other issues. Looking for a weekend driver and possible investment down the road
I know there are quite a few knowledgeable Z28 owners on the forum that can offer some ideas and suggestions. Thanks for any help you can provide. |

Hard to screw up a car in 2000 miles. Track use is about the only thing I would be concerned with for an investment car. I also don’t care for mods on investment cars either. If it’s all chipped up or PPF is hammered that would indicate track use. The rear haunches and flairs may have some peppering from the front tires. Should be minimal with 2000 miles.

Thanks for the info, it's had the tires replaced, no aftermarket items and carfax reported front struts replaced at 700 miles and at least 2 oil changes.

Front struts replaced? I would want to find out why, that’s not something that was common. Here’s the challenge with that. Struts on the car are from MultiMatic and not used on any other production car. They also have specific labels with ‘Z/28’ on them and the VIN number. From a functional perspective I would assume they were replaced under warranty and MuliMatics went back in. From a 50 years down the road perspective, the born with parts are gone now that made the car different. Other than track cars, I don’t recall seeing anyone replacing these. Even the high mileage cars still have the original struts.
If you find out why they were replaced, report back if you don’t mind. Curious why at 700 miles they needed replaced. I guess over all it’s not a ‘big’ deal or anything that should hold up a deal. Just make sure they put MulitMatics back on. |

There's really nothing specific about a Z that wears out early or anything. At 2000 miles it should still be minty fresh. As others said check the tires, and possibly the battery. Both are likely the originals and are 8+ years old now.

With only 2000 miles on it and knowing it’s 8 years old. Only thing I would replace is tires and all fluids, (radiator flush, trans, engine oil, rear diff, and brake/clutch fluid. After that check all rotors/pads, and multimatics suspension. Only thing I worry as our Z age, rotor replacement and multimatics suspension replacement. They don’t make them anymore.

FWIW carbon composite rotors can be restored/re-deposited. There are 2 companies that do this kind of work in Europe. I am aware of Surface Transformers and they have done this for a couple of Porsche track friends. Our rotors are basic Brembo rotors and nothing unusual about them. |
