Deal with them at your own risk. I despise them.

Sirius and XM

I have one of each of the services and, to be honest, I really like the service. At the end of each contract year, I discontinue it and like clockwork, they call me to sign me up again...I ignore it for a week or so and they call back and I simply tell them I can't afford it. They finally give me the year's service for less than $70 and I take it. NO CC though. I have them bill me. The service is really great even if you don't put tons of miles on your car...the other thing is, I hate to have something on my car that doesn't work....same goes for OnStar.

I had XM for 5 years on my Equinox and decided that I would be better served to use that money elsewhere. In January of this year I called to cancel, the rep said for $5.00 you can have service through June and will make sure you are not on auto renewal and they will send you a bill and you can cancel. In July I get a bill and called to cancel. They wound up charging me for 2 months and would not take it off saying that I did not call to cancel in time! They wound up turning me over to collections and I caved and paid. Last month they call me and said "Congratulations on your purchase of a 2012 Camaro, we want to offer you...blah, blah, blah" I pretty much lost it and told them I wouldn't send them a dime EVER and not to call me again...they haven't. Every now and then I get something in the mail saying they have a free weekend and listen then. I use my Ipod now...

Firstly, I NEVER give any company my home phone #
I only give them my cell #.If I am busy or in the evening I turn the cell phone off, therefore no calls.During the day, I have call display on my cell phone and can chose to answer or not.

With regards to XM, I chose the lifetime subscription as I like the programming but have to agree the customer service could be vastly improved.

Here in Canada anyway, XM has chosen to outsource the call centre, so that the calls being initiated are not actually from XM itself, but rather from a marketing company which are relentless in their pursuit of resignees.
I think the marketing company only gets paid upon the amount of resigns, but I don't know this for sure and am only speculating based upon the relentless phone calls.
The calls for me started waayyyy before my trial was up and continued until I purchased the lifetime subscription.

As for on-star , I will never purchase that service as I don't think it is necessary

Personally, I wouldn't think of owning a car without satellite radio. Of the four cars in my household, we have two XM and two Sirius subscriptions. I must admit that I have had many issues with them over the years about my account when a replace a car with another. They can't seem to keep track of my account and current radio numbers.

With that said, their product is way too good to do without and worth every nickel I pay. I love the music and the content variety and I hate stinkin' commercial radio.

Not trying to discount your experience and frustration...just sayin'.

I drive the car maybe average 15 miles a week - if that. Some weeks don't drive at all. Car hasn't been on the streets literally for the past 2 weeks. No reason for it. Plus I have pandora on my phone that bluetooth up to the system and 16gig USB stick with all my favorite tunes.

I like the service but for a car that I drive everyday. Had it the service on my two daily drivers and my wifes car at one point. I cut back on cars but still not worth putting in my daily driver or camaro. I work from home. ...so I can go 5 days easy without getting in any of my cars.

That's the thing, both my new cars can attach to an i-Pod or use MP3s burned to a CD. I have no reason to listen to a radio other that the news which is on FM anyway. Cannot see paying for music that I already have. I don't care I can get 100+ channels, I only listen to rock and specific artists.

My wife wants to subscribe once her trial ends. I won't even try to argue that one. Now hope they keep straight her radio ID vs. mine. Be my luck I renew mine.

I've had satellite radio for years, even before it was Sirius/XM. I use it everyday on my 70+ mile commute. Lots of great genres, talk shows and great when you're in another city and need traffic/weather info. Bluesville, Hair Nation, Boneyard, and several others give me better variety than Pandora or anything else..SO it's worth it to me, and I've never had any issues with their customer service, and after reading these posts, hope I NEVER run into the crap y'all have...

Agreed. Everyday, I hear something new and old; new genres, old genres, new artists, and old artists. Ipods and Pandora aren't even close.

OK...I'll say it: "Satellite Radio Rocks"

$50 off price.
I just had a friend who was an annual subscriber says his deal was $100. off.
either way, as long as they are still in business 3 years down the road, I am ahead as I plan on keeping my vert for awhile. Also, this way, I pay them once and don't have to worry about it again or get any annoying phone calls.

V8, are you planning on subscribing to Onstar?just curious.

XM called me a number of times when my free time was up, I ignored the calls for a while as caller id did not tell me who it was. When I finally talked to them, I told them the car was parked for the winter, the operator actually said "so there is no reason to subscribe then huh?" I said no, and that was pretty much the end of the call, they have not called since as far as I know. I have recieved one thing in the mail so far. I don't know if I will sign up in the spring or not.

Then this was "not" XM's employee of the month.
