best floor jack and stands for the money

It's that season and jack stands and a floor jack are on my Christmas wishlist. I've been scouring the websites and reading reviews but it seems every jack has at least a few people that say it's a piece of s@#!. So...to all my fellow Camaro 5 members out there that have had their's up on stands. What products do you recommend??
P.S. My car is lowered...do I need a low profile floor jack? I probably have 6" clearance

Thanks in advance...

Harbor Freight has some really good prices on Jacks with various sizes, reaches, and profile heights. I bought this one:

I have the Arcan XL35 jack. Low profile with a pretty high lift height. I use it on my lowered supra with no problems. And I also use it on our truck for oil changes.

Walmart, lowes, craftsman, harbor frieght.

Pretty simple piece of machinery ,cant really go wrong if you are buying a new one, as long as it can fit under your car and has the correct weight capacity.

And even if it doesnt fit under the car, drive up onto a 2x4

The whole low profile thing I'm thinking is probably a waste...like you said, it's pretty easy to improvise for that.

I did find the Arcan XL 35 for a good price at Northern Tool but they want $65 to ship

So two separate questions:

1. What's the best jack in terms of price and quality; and

2. Which of those actually fit under a stock SS/RS without any improvisation? Any?

I've got pretty much the same jack. Enough to deal with my old truck (2005 avalanche) and anything else we've needed it for. I'd say it's a good choice.

Anything from Harbor Freight seems to be a solid choice in my experience. When I started my restoration on my '68 mustang my father got many of the tools from there like jacks, engine stand, cherrypicker/engine hoist, etc. Treated us well.

I have the one from harbor freight and have used it on several occasions. It's a great product for the price. Also got my stands there.
