Well no tickets for almost 20 years, but I've been followed at least 3x by cops for more than 1 mile (clearly followed, not coincidentally going same direction). Could be my car, could be that my car is red .

My mother swears this is true, so one day I saw a cop at the store where I work and just asked him. His answer: No, we don't single them out for different treatment. People who like red cars may get pulled over more though because sometimes people who like red are they types that like to speed.

Ive owned my 09 G8 GT (Liquid Red) for about 3 months

I have been pulled over twice in the first 2 months of owning it

7 mph over the first time (77 in 70)
6 mph over the second time (76 in 70)

both were state trooper's that were driving on the other side of the highway, and flipped a U turn across the median to pull me.

I was so irritated that I was getting pulled the second time, I couldn't bite my tongue.

after my warning-- I asked - was it the car, the color or what? He said some cars do attract more attention, and catch his eye, but not a guideline to pull over. I went as far to tell him I have done 6-7 over on the highway my entire life, and now suddently when I have a new shiny red car I get pulled over Twice.

i don't think he liked me admitting to speeding. Oh well.

Both were warnings- but still aggravating.

that's not as bad as the 16 year old on here who has one ordered and got quoted at $6000 for insurance! Now that's painful! But if he can afford it, he can afford it. I wouldn't ever buy a car that cost me almost a full car payment a month in insurance... Well maybe if I was rich, and the car was really really fast....

Recently there was a story about this very question on date line or 20/20 I don't remember which. The verdict was that red cars DO NOT get pulled over more often. They were actually on par with most other colors. I believe that WHITE cars were the highest number of vehicles reported stopped according to data in report I saw. I believe the data for the story was based on data collected from 2006 or 2007.

I have always heard the same thing that RED Cars get pulled over more often becasue they are more visible. Not sure that RED is more visible than IOM or the Burnt Orange on the Corvette or some of the new colors going around out there but everyone will believe what they want to believe! Buy the color you like best and let the police try to run you down!

I'm a living example. I drove a Red '94 Camaro back in college and let me tell you, there's nothing more frustrating than being passed like you're standing still by a minivan, only to get pulled over and given a ticket for 75 in a 70, <60 seconds later.

So what, I'm a moving danger to the highway but the minivan doing 90 isn't?

I'm also the guy that got, fought in court and had to pay a ticket for 36 in a 35....
Seriously why is it that mini vans are always speeding somewhere? whenever one goes flying by I usually match it's speed then drop down an mph or two so that it's constantly pulling away just a bit.

My wife drives a red and white MINI Cooper and gets pulled over all the time.
But I think that has more to do with her driving than anything else, although that car does stick out like a sore thumb in traffic.

Born and raised around police officers and we have a ton for family friends that are officers as well and i can tell you color isn't what really attracts attention to the car, aftermarket exhaust and stereo systems is what attracts the officers attention first, if you sound like you're speeding they will clock you. It just so happens the people who are most likely to do these upgrades are also attracted to bright colors such as red and yellow.

So if a cop hears a ricer doing 20 mph with a loud ass exhaust he will pull him over? And didn't you order yellow if So are you going to put a aftermarket exhaust and stereo in?

Number3 and 296 are both VR. Never a problem. The only police interaction was for them to compliment the car.
