However, many of these issues (and likely the OP's) come down to installer error. I agree with other posts: if Comp Cams has a 1% failure rate due to tolerance or finish problems, that isn't anything to complain about. I would certainly buy one again.
Yeah definitely my fault I was throwing it on the floor to get some burrs on it then beat it into the motor with a sledgehammer.

Get real man, this is far from my first rodeo. I had to sand the burr off the first journal to get it past the bearing. I've done probably 100 plus cam installs of many different makes. This is my second and last comp cam. I'll stick with lunati or cam motion.

This shows you how deep those scratches were 30 seconds with oiled up scotch brite. Theones left are from the burr that was on the first journal. They look good inside, what I cam see of them and the old cam spins freely except for one spot were it binds a little but it doesn't take much to overcome it. I will run it

To many people want to install parts without checking clearances or anything for that matter.

We treat every aftermarket part as if it is wrong, which in turn causes us to question everything, test fit everything, verify everything.

This is not a unique to any one cam manufacturer occasionally we have to polish the surfaces of the journals to gain cam bearing clearance.

It is a combination of small cam bearings and large journals colliding.

Keep in Mind on forums you are more likely to hear the 1% Problems over the 99% success rate of components.

Hope this helps.

Ted.
I agree here too. I think that the shops doing the work can cause a lot of the problems. People buy parts assuming it's spec'd for their car and don't take the time to measure. I had a Texas Speed Cam installed a couple of years ago and the shop the did the work put too long rods in the car and it scored the cam along with really worked the crap out of the lifters causing premature wear.

I just had a Comp Cam rough idle blower cam installed. The shop I used this time checked clearances, found the rod issue, replaced with the proper, measured size, replaced rockers, trunions, springs, etc and the car perfoms awesome. I have some slight tuning issues to deal with still but that's normal for any build. The engine seems solid. JDP Motorsports in Sandy, UT did my build btw. Great shop. Jeremy down there knows what he's doing. So I'll cross my fingers and hope there isn't any issue with my cam. So far so good..

My comp cam - cam is doing great no issues installing or running and driving at the track.

That being said, I would go with cam motion if I had to do it over again. I have heard too much about a bad batch of cores lately from a few different people on and off of Camaro5.

No one told me about cam motion when I bought my cam, or I would have done that from the start.

How was the hole burred? The bearings were scored from a burr on the cam. As you can see what was left the burr wasn't much, just enough to mark the first bearing. I sanded it before it made it to the second. Thand for your input, it's all worked out now

I deleted my comment if that's what you were responding to. I decided it might start a fight and there's no need for that.

Some times it just takes a couple of passes at it to get it right . Never second guess yourself . If you thought it didn't feel right ,then it didn't .Simple as that . What ever it was ,the end result is all that counts. Good luck on the new Cam .

I had this problem with a brand new set of cam bearings. The cam would not slide in but the stock one would. I switched to a different brand of cam bearing and all was well

Back from the dead!

The car has no issues now with the cam motion core. I've only put around 600 miles on it though so far. Time will tell
