Trust us we've been at this Z28 discussion thing for sometime. The best fit so far is the LS7.

No frigging way will the Z/28 be less that a SS. I have posted before about putting a V6 in a Z/28 and this would be an "EPIC FAILURE!!!" not only for those of us that want a Z/28 but for Chevrolet. Last edited by Fightinfire921; 06-09-2011 at 06:20 PM. |

Whoa whoa whoa. I don't believe anyone is suggesting that. However, given the many comments and opinions and ideas, I believe many of the numbers I've seen where it's not feasible or even benefitial for a TT V6. Speaking for myself, only, I'll say that I welcome ideas and opinions, but there are just times when the end doesn't justify the means. It's your choice, but IMVHO, your comparison (the one I noticed about the GTR) just isn't a fair one. It's all on you.

As I said before we've been at this a while and have come to conclusions based on enlightenment which in turn we are now offering you.

a-hole or mean, but a $29,000 V6 Z/28 isn't going to happen. I estimate between $45,000 to $50,000. Last edited by Fightinfire921; 06-09-2011 at 06:13 PM. |

You can have your wishlist, sure. But the car you described doesn't really fit as a Z28. It may have its place, perhaps as a Berlinetta, just not as a Z28.

And the discussion continues from there. So please don't bail. The discussion needs all the ideas it can to form gravitational pull sufficient to materialize a Z28.

I am still a proponent for a small displacement (like a 5.3) said many times or the mythical 5.5 DI revving machine. LS7 sounds cool, but I don't think that it would do the trick. Sure, 427 sounds cool but the not so cool part is the 7.4L and all the gas it would suck and the cafe standards. I know for a fact, a 5.3L with 450-475 HP would certainly do the trick wether reaching the goal is by DI or agressive cam. The tech is there, just search the internet on some of these 5.3(327CU IN) screamers that are out there. The bores on the block are much thicker for all the abuse for a "track car". I guess that I will say it til lI am blue in the face or I get booed off the stage. it is the little engine that can.

The Z06 doesn't have problems being a track car.
The point "again" is we need something ready now for an engine if we hope to see a 5Gen Z28. |

LS7 fits that bill perfectly.

it seems that you have the engine but what about the weight? it part of the reason the z06 does so well around the track not to mention the acceleration

We'll do the best we can. If you read the post you'll see what's been mentioned. However it's a big car and only so much can be accomplished. It's a HUGE reason the LS7 makes sense.
