This car is turning into the mustang with all the "nothing extra show or go" editions...

Well even though it will be a "hot lap" with a professional driver (above the normal 35 MPH for these types of events where anyone can drive), they most likely will not exceed 100-120 MPH in the straights, slower in the corners. Won't be going near 200 MPH racing type speeds. You do realize that many concrete highways have similar "diamond cut" grooving right?

On Camaro builders sites a 2SS/RS with black hockey stripes and car cover, with out adding the cost for the exhaust etc., is $39,479.70 so pricing seems right in line to me.
The Daytona and Indy pace cars had some unique paint/graphics and sure seemed to have a lot of haters of those. This new Camaro pays tribute to the heritage of the car, those stripes are meant to pay tribute to the special editions of the past.
Also limited number special edition drivetrains are a pretty much a thing of the past from a major manufacturers since it would require millions in additional EPA/CAFE/Government certification investments.

Then you will have people complaining about "Why do they keep using those same rally stripes out of the '60s and done again in '96 for the 30th ann. models? Been there done that."

Clearly you can’t please all of the people,,,,,

Just a ploy to get more people to buy a Camaro with some goofy decals. The 400 HP on the side is tacky as hell, but to each his own.

im not surprised at all, Dodge made a huge heap of money on their "sticker" cars/trucks... apparently some people dont realize that if it's a sticker, it can be duplicated.

I didnt notice any serial numbers mentioned above... so I doubt they'll be worth much down the road.

All the new owners were VERY happy and appreciative to buy such a special car and take delivery of it in such a special way. The car and the event was a BIG hit for them. Got to hear a short presentation in one of the Suites from GM on the history of the Camaro, and Bill Estes spoke about how his dad Pete and his family helped choose the name Camaro for the car. The owners got to take two laps at "parade" speed and had their pictures taken "crossing the yard of bricks." (No "hot lap", not enough time). Also every owner and their group got their picture taken standing out on the bricks with the cars on the track as a back drop, and one next to their car as well by the Speedway's photographer. Each one will recieve a disc with all the photos from the event.

And I got one of the coolest parking spots ever, in the "Pace Car Garage"!

Don't know how to quote the pictures but on one of the first shots doesn't it look like the camaro fender emblem is not level with the black graphics above? more open on the left side while tighter on the right? Or it could be an optical illusion...

Those vinyl stickers must be Gold-plated...

I'd rather get the Camaro Scotty edition when that comes out..

That's a big IF though. Anyone going to purchase this car in hopes of its higher value come 40 years from now?
Small production scale? they took a regular camaro and put stickers on it, i guess you could say the stickers are in small production? the actual car is still your standard issue camaro. dragoneye wont like this seeing as he hates too many variants of cars

Painted stripes at a premium I would consider it worth the money for a collector. Vinyl after 40 years unless the car is kept under wraps does not last forever..
