i just found this thread.

i had the same exact thing happen on my car,

what a few people on here said to look for was the driveshaft bolts,

but it ended up being this bearing.

made the most horrible clunking noise anytime it was rolling,

its in the chevy garage as we speak getting fixed

should have it tomorrow or monday.

im freakin out without it,but at least ill be able to drive it normally

Ok.. Bring this thread back from the dead. My car is making a loud vibrating noise in the area of this bearing from 40mph on up and on acceleration. I got under the car and the only thing I can find that has any slack is it. It's not a lot just maybe 1/16-1/8 if that.

I can't find it on any gm parts websites. Anyone know where to get one? I am v6 auto btw. Hope this doesn't cost both arms and a leg

That much slack is perfectly normal.

Does not mean that it isn't the bearing anyway but it does have about that much movement when pushed and pulled from underneath.

As far as a fix, if you're handy then you can do it probably for under a hundred dollars. I got a free driveshaft from a forum friend who had put a solid shaft in.

As an aside, I have posted long ago about a chirping noise coming from my car and subscribed to this thread to follow. It only happens in hot weather when the car has just been started. There is a TSB about this bearing "floating" on some vehicles.

Three and a half years later, I still have that noise, with no real issue coming up. I still think it's that bearing turning and stopping causing the chirp... but it has yet to wear enough to become a vibration.

Yea I agree with the slack part not being it but I can't find anything else loose. The noise is coming from that area so I'm gonna go with the bearing being bad.

I called the dealership and they said it would be covered so that's a plus.
