Cam, emblems, and gears as stated before.

Cam is changing the engine, and gears would be changing either the tranny of the dif. Internal changes are still changes. Gears aren't that big of a problem, but the cam definitely is. It would have to be tested, evaluated, and certified as if it were an all new engine, not exactly cheap.

Furthermore, I personally can't stand the notion of a new Z28 where there isn't a thought towards improving handling.

And how hot of a cam would it be? The hotter it is you lose driveability and gas mileage and the same can be said about some gears. These would all have to be tested and last 100,000 miles also. Plus GM has to watch CAFE standards as well. If I wanted a cammed/geared SS, that's what'd I buy. The SS needs way more than that to get to Z/28 track standards.

I'm thinking GM is going back to it's roots for Z28. Surprised as I was, I think it was a good decision. I can't help but wonder if this was a result of the Boss coming out. ZL1 definately fits the bill better for our newest CAMARO, but I still can't wait for Z28 to come.

I will stop posting on it and wait and see if it comes out and if I would be happy with it. It just seems like an easy built to me.

If not I'm thinking of a second home in Orlando.

Officially retired and four years left in my DROP. $$$$$$

Hold it tight , when the Z28 comes out you will not find the engine at the front , or on the back , you will have to look for it on the CENTRAL ENGINE LAYOUT , oh yeah no more back seats ,just you and your machine and miles and miles of wide open road !!!

Mako Shark wheel flares and wider rims and tires...+throw in coil over shocks and other z suspension pieces and you have it. A "Z" as you know, is more than just good looks. I had a 69 SS 396 and a 69 Z blew me in the weeds with his 302. Not in brute strength but in cornering and weight. It is just that simple.
