Right there with you on this one.

My apartment complex has a wash bay and free vacuum but it's got a huge nozzle at the end and definitely won't fit in that space. I've got a portable 12v Coleman vac I haven't tried on this car yet but the crevice tool on it may still be too big. That and it doesn't have the best suction power in the world either.

As far as the rest of the interior goes, I'm quite pleased. I love the '12 dash with the leather accent and contrasting color around the main vents. Only issue there is, as has been reported on the forums, the leather seems to want to bubble and lift up in the area between the vents and radio. Not terribly noticable but it's there. I haven't bothered to take the car to the dealer yet so I can't complain too much.

Brushed stainless is nice... I didn't see anyone saying it wasn't... did I miss something?

Chrome IS cheap plastic and that's what it looks like. Ugly and tacky. You used to get steel "chromed" now you get cheap shiny plastic and they call it "chrome". I'm in the process of blacking all mine out and/or replacing parts with machined billet.

OP: I like the interior for the most part, also. As the driver I'd give it an 8/10 for cars under 50K: It feels solid, everything fits well and it has a nice "feel" to lines on the inside too; I wouldn't want to be in the back seat though.

The RS package makes a difference.
My biggest hangup in 2009 was the HUGE space on the passenger side. Just a big blank piece of hard elephant skin plastic.

It seemed this was an inexpensive car. I can tell the designers were in a big hurry and had no budget as they wanted the 3.6 Direct Injection into the model at min price. Yea, I get it. Its a muscle car. But can you give the designers a bigger budget than $12?
Other points less important:
- non-leather Seats are uber bland.
- Hard, bland, blank, huge, simple, one piece hard plastics. gray and black. Everywhere. Nothing is soft to touch except for the doors.
- Uneven gaps. Check on the dash at the door.

The RS model made me like it. The interior lighting at night is fabulous.
They did make good tweaks for 2012, especially with the passenger side with getting rid of the hump and making it out of softer plastic.
From listening to Bob Lutz, the interior was probably cheap due to the MBA hires he disliked.

Like many of you, I really don't have any complaints about the interior. And for those of you that don't like the plastic door inserts, you should have downgraded (HA) to the 1SS that has cloth door panel inserts. I did so on purpose so that I could get the cloth seats as well. Leather wears too fast and these cloth seats, so far, seem to be durable and holding up well. No squeaks or rattles to date and everything fits the way it was intended.

Sun can hit plastic chrome in the interior at certain angles. That's why you don't see much in there now.

This is news to me. I didn't think RS had anything to do with the interior???

You're right it doesn't matter. Maybe he's thinking of lighting options that are included on 2LT and 2SS(and optional on some other trims) and he could be thinking they are part of the RS package?

Interior is alright, but thats not why I bought the car. I didnt really pay that much attention to it until months after ownership. Body styling and performance is what sold me.

I kind of like the minimalistic design, but dont get me wrong, I do have some gripes, and they are usually when im actually detailing it. Ie: noticing all the scuffing from the seatbelt on the middle console and the dings in the plastic of the door. In 5 years its probably going to show a lot of wear and tear on the drivers side and Ill have to figure out some clever way to get it looking decent.

At the end of the day though, the Camaro isnt a family car, it isnt a luxury car, its a sports/muscle/pony car. It has a touch of modern amenities and has more than enough to be a semi-comfortable ride.

and im still trying to figure out how to vacuum in that ultra hard to reach place described above. I have an expensive high powered vacuum with multiple attachments, none of which can get crap up from there.

Actually that is one complaint I don't have. I have a 1979 Kenmore vacuum (purchased new and given to me by my mom when I moved out) that has an attachment that works perfectly there.

I like the car but the interior looks cheap to me. Why is the much cheaper Malibu so much nicer inside?

Its nice, but I like many may be a bit partial/biased. :P It could always be worse, but sometimes its personal pref. For example:

Its not the colors, but some of the shapes/angles that I could care less for. To each his own, as far as this taste is concerned. Cheers.

I like the interior in mine just fine.

Since I'm in AZ, the sun seems to come from right above you at midday and the reflections off some of the shinier bits can be distracting and annoying. I may paint mine one day, who knows?
