Hey all, this weekend Sunday 10/07 is another Funday Sunday at Orlando Dragway, if it doesn't rain I am looking to go over, last month it rained and I didn't go. 10 bucks to get in and 5 more to run..

Sort of related. Since they are closing that down and all eventually. I was thinking of getting a petition signed for the Melbourne or Palm Bay city council (or may a county council??) to start up a municipal drag way. Here in Melbourne I'm sick of hearing of two or three kids a year from each school die in an illegal race. I know 10 years ago they opened up Hurricane Paintball because the vandalism rate was high.

You guys think the city would consider this? It would one reduce the deaths and injuries, and two bring in some revenue I'm sure.

Someone already tried this about 5 years ago to try to get a dragstrip and an oval track park built west of town in PalmBay off of Malabar road and it didn't get approved, nice thought though..

Yes, we were trying to push for that. The locals (Lamplighter Village, etc.) screamed about the noise (on the other side of I95) so it was delayed. The people involved (e.g. Ray G. at Seven Kings Holdings) pulled out and put their millions of dollars into Moroso Motorsports Park instead. They also put it back to its original name of PBIR. (Palm Beach International Raceway)

Oh I didn't know. Maybe we could get a petition going on change.org? As far as sponsoring, I thought if Mario Andretti has that little arcade here, he would maybe sponsor a race track, oval, drag, or twisty.
