What do you guys think?

when i initially ordered my car, the salesman asked me if i had a trade in to put down on it, and i told him yes. since then, my dad asked me if he could buy my car from me and use it as a DD, an we agreed to that. My question is will the dealer get po'd that im no longer trading a car in?

Shouldn't matter how you buy it as long as your paying for it. I bought mine outright with no trade. I sold my civic locally for 2 or 3 k more than trade in value.

I don't know why it would matter. You need to go talk to them or call them. You gonna put the cash down for what the value of the trade would have been?

Don't mean to sound like an Ahole, but why are you worried about the dealer being po'd?

By trading the car you get the tax break on what ever they give you for it! Why don't you do a courtesy trade where your dad still buys it and you get the tax break?

if you haven't even had the trade appraised by the dealer it really shouldn't make any difference to them. most dealers in our area are really low on used cars so they may be disappointed but not much more.

I'd pay him with a dump truck of pennies if he hassles you about it!

hhmm didnt think of that. i think though that he was just going to get a personal loan and give it to me in exchange for the loan. im new to the whole loan process.

The dealership shouldn't mind but may make the financing part a little harder, unless you get your dad to pay-off the vehicle before you get camaro. Banks are leary of financing a vehicle with two cars under your name. Best thing would do the courtesy trade as mentioned above. You get the tax break and the dealership gets to mark it down as two sales. I have done it a few times so it does work.
