Only you will know if it is the right or wrong decision, but $450 is doable if you have a nice downpayment.
Good luck and

it's doable if he/she gets a 2010 LS. lol get a beater and wait until you can get what you want, without any worry. unless you want a 2010 LS.

You're the only one who knows what you're budget is like. Is a Camaro worth eating Ramen? IMO YES!
But if you're feeding a family, paying off college, etc... there are more important things in life.

If you have to think this hard about it, you likely can't afford it. If you really want a Camaro badly, buy a beater, save your cash, wait a year and reassess your financial readiness.

Not sure how old you are but I am 53, perfect driving record and a multi car discount and the insurance on my 2011 2SS/RS is right at $1000 a year - about $85 a month. If yours is the same, you are now down to $365 a month for car payment. Certainly doable with a good down payment but I dont think it will buy you a nice Camaro without the down payment.

with all due respect, sound's like you cant afford it right now. work on a bigger paycheck, saving some money, and look at the financials later. even if you could squeeze into one, you'd be right at the top of your limit. any financial hardship would destroy you. even an accident that jacked up your insurance rates. and getting out of a car, especially one like a camaro, is going to be expensive.

No one say's you have to buy a new one. Depending on what kind you want, you can probably find one under $19k, with decent mileage.
And if you're credit is good enough you can get the payment under $300/mo It took me months of shopping and looking to finally be able to get a deal on one.

If things are tight enough where you're worried about the insurance...save up for now. More downpayment = less payment, maybe a better deal later.

I'd wait. If you can afford a Camaro 5 when the next generation come out the camaro 5 left overs should be relative bargains. In the mean time save for a substantial down payment. You will have a new car and a do able payment schedule, best of all worlds.
At this time I'm saving for a 2015 and with my trade in and cash able to drive away from the dealer in MY car and no payments. But do what you must. |
