CoolerLogic or TORQ heat exchanger?
Finally made it it to the track this weekend. Best run was a 12.42 ET. Which was the second pass, some reason the first did record on equipment at track. But every one after that got slower, sure from heat soak. Which HX would you prefer CoolerLogic or TORQ? Any modifications necessary to install either? What about fans from TORQ being mounted on CoolerLogic HX? Thanks for any info.

tpower did you have to drill any hole to install HX and did you get with or without fans, and have you used it at drag strip yet? wondering how long of a cool down period before next pass. I waited about 30 minutes between passes and would still have engine temps around 200 to 217 by the time i got ready to leave the line.

The 3 heat exchangers I have seen people use are
1. cooler logic 2. torq 3. KDI I have yet to see data that compares them head to head. Now if you are drag racing honestly the one chiller products is proabably going to be you best money spent though. no heat exchanger can go below ambient and there are days at the drag strip where ambient can be high. I have seen video of iat2's in the 60's on 90 degree days. then maybe up to 100 degrees or so on the pass then right back down wile in the return lane.

I saw video of someone driving around with super chiller, didn't like the ideal of it being tapped from AC unit. Prefer to keep warranty intack for a while and thought that unit would be a problem to remove and reinstall if had any type of warranty work to be done. It's a good concept though.

Correct me if I'm wrong but bigger doesnt always mean better...KDI is 4" thick..can't that be counter productive? Coolerlogic being 2.75" thick would this be sufficient?

his car was running 10.20's without pulling any timing by the end of the run if I remember right. I think his iat's were in the 120's and the car was making a ton of power. it is more money though so I see why the coolerlogic is appealing people don't less extreme builds.

Who did your install and did it void your warranty? Was it hard to put in and did you have any leaks? I have heard stories of someone in the phenix area that was having issues

Has there been any testing to determine if these larger heat exchangers reduce the airflow and thus cooling to the engine coolant. I would imagine GM designed the stock HX to perform while not blocking airflow to the radiator. At some point you will be trading off better intercooler cooling for poorer engine cooling.
