Was I getting railroaded?
I placed an order over a month ago with a dealer that told me it would be an 8 month wait before I got my car. I didn't realize at the time that bigger dealerships with better allocation had faster turnaround. After my salesman failed to return 3 phone calls and an email in a week's time, I chose to cancel my order, get my deposit back and find another dealer. A day later, he called and told me he wanted to make it "right". He had a 6 speed RJT SS/RS with black leather and a sunroof, and I could have it immediately. It was apparently for another customer that he could not make contact with. After driving up there and accepting his offer, he pulled something shady. Right before we started the paperwork he said, oh, by the way...the ground effects will be in in a week or so. They are on backorder. Bring the car back and we'll get them on for you. I froze! I told him, no, I don't want the ground effects package. I want the car as it sits on the lot. He said no way. The car was invoiced with ground effects and HAD to be sold with them...no exceptions! Now the car had no GFX on it at the time, nor did the dealer even have them in his possession. Why would I have to pay for an option I didn't even want? I even told him I would purchase $2200 of additional options, but I did not want the GFX! No deal! Does that make any sense to anyone? Is there salesman among us that can clarify this. If a car is invoiced with an option, but the option is backordered. Then the car is sold to another customer. Why must that customer pay for an option that isn't even on the car yet?

it's an LPO that was invoiced as part of the car. the GFX ship separately from the car.. you want the car, you take the GFX kit...you don't have to have them install it..just ebay it or sell it to another member here.
so this all went down a month ago, or have you had more recent contact/ update?

The whole thing didn't sit well with me, so I walked away. I have since ordered one from another dealer and was promised an 8 week delivery. Although the RJT did look hot, it wasn't my first color choice anyway. According to The Viz, my CGM 2SS/RS with sunroof and black leather is sitting at 3000 status with a TPW of 8/31/09. Jeff, you and I will have to hook up at a Camaro meet sometime. I'm in White Marsh.
