I'd use the Corvette ZR1 oil filter: AC Delco UPF48R.

I would put the cover back on, GM work hard in the wind tunnel on this thing and it is designed to flow under the car and helps in cooling things behind the engine.

Drain oil, change filter....

I figure the ZL1 will be $125 easy, it takes 8.5 quarts of oil plus the filter plus labor. You know with the pan, they will charge at least 1/2 hour labor just for that alone.

Leave it off?... lol...

Thanks for the information! Were the fasteners bolts? I've been curious about that. I also figured it would've been a two-piece job, but it looks like the whole tray comes out. No biggie either way, IMO.

The one piece pan is held on by about 10 metric bolts and two plastic push fasteners. You should remove all the bolts then the two fasteners at the rear last. The front has two tabs so it will stay in place if you support the rear. Then drop the rear slightly, slide it to the rear about 3 inches and its out. Pretty durable and light so one person can do it without drama. Put it back in reverse order and make sure the front two tabs go into the slots behind the spoiler. Pop the fasteners in to hold in place and the put all bolts in by hand. Push the pan up while threading the bolts because some of the pan holes are threaded. The bolt clips also move around a bit so don't tighten the bolts until all are in and threaded properly.

Race ramps are made for this exact point... low rides with wide tires. It's the whole purpose of using ramps... not the old school metal ones that are 4 foot high.

How can anyone break a windshield changing oil? I'm sure if there was a way jiffy lube would find it.
