Radar Detectors at Best Buy???
I have a $60 gift card toward Best Buy I just received as reward points from a credit card. I really want a radar detector so figured it would be a good idea to use the card toward the purchase of one. The only "high end" radar detector they carry right now is the Passport 9500 IX (GPS). Does anybody have this unit and is it worth the price? I noticed it was pretty pricey so hopefully they dont do a price reduction shortly after I purchase it!
I am not sure about other parts of the country but I couldn't find any Escort Redline's at Best Buy yet which I am also interested in.

It's the best detector. The 9500ix and the Valentine 1 are the 2 top of the line. I have the 9500 ix and it's been 2 years and no tickets. It's awesome. It is worth the price.

Thanks man, I will go for it then. If they end up carrying the Redline I guess I'll have to do some research since they're the same price.

They also have the 8500 x50 which is awesome at a much lower price tag without all the bells and whistles of the 9500!

The 9500ix just saved me what would have been about $400-500 ticket today. Well worth the price.

Most LEO's are using LIDAR not radar. A properly used LIDAR will paint you quicker than you can use the brake pedal. At most your detector will inform you to pull over. Obey speed laws and save money..a novel concept.

I consider myself a very responsible driver, worst possible scenario I may go 12 to 13 over on a highway/parkway when traffic is limited and conditions are perfect. I want a detector mainly to avoid speed traps where I would most likely be picked out of the group and profiled when ALL traffic is flowing 8-10 over. You know just as well as I do that we will get pulled over in the Camaro faster than the Toyota Sienna Minivan going the same speed.

Every time I go to buy a radar detector, I always think I can get out of four or five tickets for this much money... and pass.
