Man.....if they did make an LS7 based Z28 I think I would rather have that than the ZL1. Just waiting and waiting for what Dodge will do in the future.

So that would make the challenger 4400-4450lbs with all the associated hardware? The chassi is too big in every way and yes you can make it fast in 1/4th by putting more and more HP in there, but at this point I'd rather have a 3000lbish car with 300hp, will be more fun and practical.

Yep, just saying that they wont be doing another FWD with an old nameplate like the DART.

I'm with on this one. My father in-law has a C-4 vette with very low miles with the LT-4 motor. That car is a blast to drive even though it only has 330HP. All the HP in the world won't change the fact that the challenger is just not the foundation for and overall great car. Any car can be made to go fast in a straight line. I had a 69 dart that ran in the high 9s before I hung it up ,but it would have been a death trap for anything other 1/4mile passes. For me I like cars the feel nimble, handle great, break and respond. That's what a street performance car should be not just a 1/4mile pig with large HP.

I like my "pig" and it does handle alot better than people give it credit for but yeah, they still need to give the car a diet. I mean the least they can do is give it an aluminum block and save near 100 pounds on the front of the car that way. The next thing they need to do is give us a "stripped down" option on the SRT. Not all of us want everything AND the kitchen sink in the car. That will save a little over 100 pounds there. They sorta did this with the Superbee thats coming out.

A 2013 supercharged Challenger...............I dont think its happening.

I love the Challenger, if theyd do something with the interior I might be in one now instead of my Camaro. Its a close call though, they both look great.

I doubt it would be that heavy, maybe 4200-4300, the ZL1 is going to be what, 4150+? The Camaro is no lightweight, what about 3900 pounds for the SS? IMHO if fun to drive is what you are after and not too worried about the 1/4 mile, the Toyota/Subaru sports cars fit the bill the best. 200HP and 2700 pounds in a well designed chasis with a low center of gravity for less than 25k? Um, yeah.....

Wait, doesn't the challenger weigh 4200 WITHOUT a supercharger and supporting mods? Yes, the ZL1 is kind of ridiculously heavy, like mercedes AMG Black-heavy, and while you can build a fast car that heavy, it gets harder and harder to do and is just not worth it IMO. I like my SS (manual transmission so it's lighter) and it's at about the limit of what I'd find acceptable for that many doors/seats, etc.

I have always liked the looks of the Challenger and hope own one soon but I fear the 392 on the street. I'm also wishing for a new Z28.

Yeah, my 392 weighs 4150 without me in it. I dont have the 40 pound sunroof and 1 bajillion speaker system. LOL. It does have the kicker rear speaker that adds 20 pounds but at least its in the trunk.
