My husband's Ram had tranny problems left and right, so the Silverado's Allison tranny was the big selling point when we got it a couple of years ago (the same day as the Camaro, to be exact!)

So it went on down the road. Get a HEMI, 5.0, or an Ecoboost if you want power and fun to drive factor. |

I drove a crew cab 2011 ltz chev and wasn't impressed and with a price of 58 I wasn't liken it any more. Went and took my 2011 crew sport ram for a drive and got 11g off so couldn't complain. Haven't looked back since

My personal preference is always GM over Dodge, but that's just me. I would think that they'd be more reliable. Plus I like the design a little bit better, although I can't argue that they do need a refresh/redesign, which I know is coming. Keep us informed.

The Chevy 1500 work Truck
The Chevrolet Silverado work truck. It has a/c but roll up windows and you use a key to get in the doors.
Find the cheapest priced one you can at the end of December. That is hands down your HIGH QUALITY daily driver. |

Do you live out in the country, or need to tow/haul things? Just a bit confused why you'd go with a truck as a daily driver....

Go for the Silverado. You won't regret it. They hold resale value better than the Ram. I've not driven any of the new trucks, so I don't have a comparison for you on that. It's hard to decide on half tons, but if you got an HD it'd be Chevy/GMC all the way.

Can you get a Ram 1500 with a real bed now, or is it still only available with the Grocery Getter special 6.5 footer? I hate short bed trucks, they just look weird. And all that "I can lay the tailgate down and fit drywall in the bed" talk is silly too. With an 8 footer - you can do that and close the gate. I love both these trucks, if I could get a 1500 with an 8 ft bed, I'd get the Dodge. If not, Silverado.

I use all chevy trucks for my business because they are very reliable ,but as far as personal use I just bought a new eco-boost 150 and I love. I can't say a bad thing about the truck as a whole. My father in-law has a 2010 hemi sport. It has a nice interior ,but he's had a lot of problems with it ,and the handling really feels like a big truck. That's why I went with the ford.

I traded a charger in on my camaro. Still have 2 Dodge rams (a truck and a van), and had traded a ram in on that charger. Everytime I have to take one of them in, whether to the regular mechanic or someplace else like transmission shop for instance, it seems I get told "yeah, that's a common problem with these." All for of those vehicles had front end problems come up at inspections (ball joints, u joints, tie rods). The charger I think had 17k miles when it needed fixed. At 20k it needed transmission work. I still like Dodge vehicles but by no means would consider them the most dependable.
