How to get iPod to index?

I've been plugging in my iPod via the USB port in the center console, however, it never seems to completely finish indexing. It reads "indexing..." the entire time. This prevents me from selecting specific songs. Any suggestions?

While it's plugged in or it doesn't matter? Ideally how long should it take to Index?

It depends on how much music you have on the ipod. I have over 40 gig on an ipod touch (4th gen) and it takes about 5 minutes or so to index. It will reindex every time you turn the car off.

Not sure why it would show indexing on the iPod Touch...I have the "iTouch" as well and it doesn't say indexing or whatever, it just recognizes it and starts playing.

Can you try a different iPod or possibly even a USB flash drive for testing?

This issue still happens with a 2013 Camaro?

I have about 1000 songs on my 8 gig iPod touch. And I guess it does happen on the 2013. No real way to solve the issue then huh?

My cable is pretty beat up, you think that may have anything to do with it?

Cable shouldn't affect it. Do you have the iPod set on "Enable Disk Use"?

I had that problem with my IPod, so I switched to a USB memory stick and now I don't have a problem any more.
