My exhaust does a pop sound when it fires up.

Hi guys,

I'm new to The SS model, I've been driving a 2LT for over three years a I switched to the 2012 SS with the L99 about a month ago. I'm concerned that when I start up my car it does a growl and then a pop, almost like a misfire. Then it hums nicely. (The pop is not that loud but its noticeable) This car is bone stock and since this is my first 5th gen SS I don't know if this is normal or should I have it check out. By the way it has 13k miles and I'm running 93 octane.

Any of you L99ners experiencing the same thing?

Normal. Some like it, some don't. I happen to like it.

Pretty sure this is normal.

Here is my L99 starting up when it had all stock exhaust.

Thanks for the quick response guys. I appreciate the vid, sounds like my car.
I'm glad it's normal, but I'm not totally sold on the sound though.

Woo! Gotta love the popping! :-)

Btw, I love my exhaust even more after doing the muffler delete mod.

Did you pass a mustang on the way home? It'll work itself out in time.

Same here. More fun when someone is standing behind it and not expecting it.

especially fun to surprise a group of people standing right behind the car with no cats and some catback exhaust. you can feel the air rush with the pop. LOL
