That is the most absurd generalization I have ever read. Tell that to Underground Racing, Switzer and AMS. There are tons of absolutely monstrous AWD cars out there. Go take a look at the UR Gallardos. There is pretty much nothing on the street that will keep up. WHP is WHP and it's easier to put it down with AWD. Most of the 4-digit plus street cars have serious traction problems until well into the 100s.

Those are Gallardos. Not EVOs. The short gearing really limits the rally based cars (EVO, wrx, etc.) and so does the awd driveline once you get beyond a certain point with it. That's why you will see the pro drag cars changing out their awd driveline for a rwd driveline. Don't believe me, go look it up.

Just race him over a speed bump, watch him bust his front lip, get high centered, and then tell him his stretched tires are stupid.

I was responding to your blanket statement about AWD. Since when can't gearing be changed, especially in heavily modded cars? Evo 5spd gearing isn't even that short.

As for the drag cars going to RWD -- maybe to run in the classes they want to. The fastest street cars stay AWD and they can be plenty fast enough to stomp on even turbo vipers. There are also WRX's running stock STI 6 speed transmissions in the 8s and 9s.

On any remotely usable street car AWD is not a hindrance in either case. There are 900+awhp WRX and Evos running around on the street that will terrorize damn near anything. I know, I have been stomped by a swapped 2.5rs with a built motor and a big ass turbo in my modified z06.

I get where you're coming from, full-on 6s NHRA drag cars, sure they will be RWD because having front drive wheels is pointless when there's no weight on them, but in a street car the AWD platforms are very, very formidable and perfectly capable of keeping up with pretty much anything else on the street.
