I would delete this thread if I was a Moderator. This is a crazy stupid thread, of course IMO.

I agree with the OP. if the ads are based on Internet usage then someone's child whose parents visit Camaro5 could be seeing porn ads if one of the parents visits porn sites.

Yes, you should be careful about what you use Google to find. You should also remember your every post, tweet, email, etc. is being archived somewhere and will be used against you in a court of law. Paranoia strikes deep...

but at the same time it means more money. I was a website builder for a while and you get paid good money for advertising other websites on your page along with the # of people that clicks on the add. Not a prob to me and if it was i wouldn't be a member. Wierd thing is that I never get advertisments on my Homepage of the sites I previously were on.

It's ok to be concerned, and others should not bash someone if it is a concern, being helpful usually illiminates the problem. It is true, there is a 'website' and a 'forum' which are seperate. If there is ad space sold on the website, that is at the discretion of the website owner. Whomever owns the ad may have in place tools to follow pref by people, this is not controlled by the website, it is usually just linked, the ad owner controls the content. Forum rules are for the members. If they don't match up, again, it is at the discretion of the website owner, not the members. The website owner could consider the issue if it is a concern for members, if minimal, they most likely will not. So it is up to the individual if they can live with that or not unfortunately.

Google ads are based upon your personalized browsing history, and your computer's information such as location, browser type, OS etc. If you have a problem with that, do not allow cookies on your browser. Do not use google. problem solved. Raise your complaint with google (including gmail, youtube or any other google owned service). Not the forum. A computer chooses the ads, not a person.

If you can't see the difference between not wanting political talk on the forums (always ends up heated with someone getting bashed..) and a simple add from an outside company, then I honestly don't know what to tell you....

It is at the discretion of the ownership. If you don't like it, I'm sure they'll refund your membership fee. Start your own 5th gen website and you can do all that stuff with ad blocking. It's a PITA, so I doubt you'll get your way.
Spend the day googling go-fast parts for a 5th gen instead of political stuff, and the problem is solved!

Just like when I go on other car forums, I get ads for the Camaro. The site doesn't put them there that's for sure. It just depends on what you're searching in Google's search engine. The Camaro5 management is allowing Google to advertise. Like I said above, they don't pick the ads, you do.
