The Whipple has a bigger inter cooler than the Maggie. My IAT stay lower than a buddies car that has a Maggie on his motor. We both are running meth too. I'm making about 12psi at 6200RPMs with the 3.750 pulley, 102mm throttle body, and the meth injection. Made 678RWHP before the motor was pulled for a LSX motor. Good luck, BTW the Maggie's sound SICK with the rear cog drive pulleys.

I would really recommend the Whipple out of the two just for two areas...1. IAT's are lower when actually driving the car and 2. room for growth (hp).

I LOVE my 2.9 emission legal Whipple. Car is mild enough to drive across the country and runs low 11's all day long with drag radials. 3.8 Sheave with a custom exhaust cam. Of course new fuel pump, oil pump,injectors,tune,1 7/8 long tubes with high flow cats, roto fab cold air, tranny tune, etc. 585-600 RWHP( depending on the weather ).

Davenport is close to me. I know the guys over there a little, and they do the Magnusons on almost every Camaro, and they do lots. They are for sure the biggest in Western Canada. They have a ton of happy customers, so I'd guess they are doing it right.
I'm a whipple fan, but I think I agree they won't shine on low-moderate boost. It's like turbo sizing. Why get 1200whp turbos if you want only 600whp. You are leaving torque on the table.

+1 I have a lysholm & my buddy I roll with has a maggie. Well just say I would never trade my blower for one. I would go to a whipple though if I had to do it again.

I know the Magnuson is CARB certified with an E.O. number for California. Are any of the other superchargers California certified? Also, Magnuson offers powertrain warranties for as little as $275 for 3yr/36000 and $775 for a 5yr/100k. How about the other companies? I have a TRD Eaton supercharger, same type and company who makes the Magnuson, on my 2001 4WD 4Runner with 160k miles and have never serviced it and never had a problem with it.

That is a good point.. Good thing I don't live in Cali, their laws suck.. As for that warranty, I think the problem lies their that it has to be installed by certain dealerships/shops. Plus you can't pulley down with that or the warranty is gone, if you pulley down, you have to change the tune, if anything breaks from another tune the warranty is gone and they will be able to see that. So I dunno how good that warranty is. I'm not expert on the Maggie's warranty but I know I wouldn't be happy with 6lbs of boost. But like I said the Maggie is a plus with CARB Certified CA thing. I do know that Vortech-Lysholm does have :3-Year/36,000-mile powertrain limited warranty optional (coverage is from vehicle original in-service date) I don't know price, I just known it wasn't worth it.

Their warranty is a joke. If you have any bolt-ons its voided, if you have a different pulley its voided, if you tune it its voided, if you don't pay one of their authorized installers its voided. Just put your money in a shredder as its equally effective and useful.

Which unit is the most reliable and best for the street for cars producing less than 600rwhp. I think the Magnuson is the most proven because it's been around longer. Just curious, as I mentioned previously in this thread I have a 13 year old 4Runner with a 160k miles on my Eaton TRD roots style supercharger. No service or problems.

Both kits are top notch and I've seen good customer support from both companies. I like whipple's heat exchanger better but realistically either will suite the needs of most people on here at similar boost levels, especially on a stock bottom end. You can find better deals on the magnuson so it comes down to personal preference and if you think "size matters". |
