Its not an uncontrollable car. its not even that crazy powerful. I had an E46 M3 when i was 18 didnt get hurt or in much trouble.. I think that an SS is a badass car for a 16y.o. Wish i would've gotten one instead of my 1999 LS1 Z28.

not trying to be a hater, but i was more excited at 39 to get my ss that i ordered and paid for then he was to get at 16. my opinion is that dad wanted the car more then the kid did. so mom and dad should be proud that they were able to buy a child a car of performance. so when this child smashes this $ 40000.00 + gift into something lets hope he doesn't kill anyone or himself. because i hate to see another mother and father crying in court that they never thought this would happen bullshit. so i wish him the best and hope he respects his parents and the car to avoid any trouble so no one gets killed or hurt!

My professional opinion as a police officer is that this is too much car for him, he got it when he was ALMOST 15? Theres going to be a lot of temptation out there for him to "test" the camaro, and a very inexperienced driver doesnt go good with a 400+hp car.

Cool video and a great set up by the parents. Personally I wouldnt give my 16 year old son a car with this kind of power, but thats just me. Hopefully he is mature enough to handle it.

I think the old guys at the start was the only wise one. He said, "I'm worried about you son, I'm worried about you".

I hope they don't regret it.

Does this family own Under Armor? Is that where the money is from, I wonder?

As a father of 3 kids i was moved by this. I am in position to able to do this for my children but its not going to happen. I spend many years keeping my children safe and it doesnt stop at 15. The parents hearts are in the right place wanting to give his child nice things but dam a 400+ hp car to a 15 year old wow

Second of all, responsibility has got nothing to do with it. Even surgeons who have just graduated have to be interns for a few years before they can solo it. A car is very complicated machine and the road rules are very complicated at first.

A reduction in power keeps the driver within the boundaries of controllability. You cannot over-accelerate a civic out of control by accident.

This is not about responsibility. The kid may very well be responsible, but accidents/loss-of-concentration/distractions happen to everyone, and it takes experience to know how to handle these things. You read all the time about very experienced drivers making stupid mistakes because they didn't know how to handle whatever freak circumstance and they over-compensated or whatever and crashed. With less power, it allows you to compensate without running the danger of over-compensating.

This is just common-sense, and I am quite shocked that some of you don't understand this. But I guess I'm not surprised given all the young people we see dying doing "stupid" things that could have been avoided with the right parental guidance. I'd hate to be your kids if you think it's okay for me to have a 400HP+ car at 15 years old. I'd be a Darwin award winner waiting to happen, and my nomination should have been yours in the first place.
well said.

I'm not a Police Officer but work for the Sheriff's Office and I agree with you on all that you said.

Well for you people hating consider this. My parents got me a z28 when I was 16. They knew thats what I wanted. I didin't wreak it, I never got a speeding ticket either. Since then I have had 2 more camaros, a trans am, and a gto. Now I am getting ready to buy my fourth camaro a 2ss. All I have ever had was v8 power and never had a accident or miss treated the privilage.
