Exclamation 2012 45th Convertable - New Headers - O2 Sensor Codes???

Hey Team,

I have a 2012 2SS Convertible 45th edition - I just installed BBK Ceramic coated Long tube Headers with High Flow Cats - After about 5 starts I get the engine light coming on - It is code P0430 or P0420 which is a efficiency error. So I order the extender plugs from Speed Unlimited but when I went to install them I found that the convertible has a support plate that is in the way. So the extender plug will not work unless I remove the plate. I have a hand held programmer that allows me to remove the codes every few days but Their has to be a better option. Anyone have a suggestion?

Thanks,

Nick Lamelza

if you aren't running wire extenders now, where are the o2 sensors mounted?

Hey Higgs Boson - Yes I ran the entenders and the O2 Sensors are currently plugged into the Hi Flow Cats but the hole is right in line with a solid steele plate.

so are you talking about the rear sensors or the front sensors? the front sensors should be mounted in the collector and the rears on the rear section of the cats.

the codes you are getting are from the front sensors. where are they?

The Front sensors are installed at the base of the headers and the rear sensors are in the back of the cats. I was told by a mechanic the erros were coming from the rear sensors. They stated all the info comes from the rear sensors.

I'm sorry, those are codes from the rear sensors..... what am I thinking, lol. anyways, I have totally misread your post. you ordered the extenders to keep the sensors out of the pipe, not the wire harness extenders. sorry.

the best way to remove those codes is with a tune. your tuner can turn those specific codes off so they don't report and leave the rest of the codes on.

Does anyone have any suggestion of a programmer that will allow to remove these codes from reporting. I have the Jet Performance hand held Model - 15008 which allows to clear the codes and read them but nothing more.

U need a custom tune from a laptop. Handhelds can't turn codes off, only clear them.

Higgs is correct - You would need a custom tune by a tuner to get rid of the CEL. Check with East Coast Supercharging, Janetty...etc etc - all affordable mail-order tunes, and quality as well.

Technically, the mail order tunes are done via a handheld. Once you choose a shop to work with, they will tell you the handheld they prefer. You can't use just any ole handheld. SCT seems to be the most popular. I used Jannetty and am very happy with his tune. I'm sure there are several others that work well too.

Not all are done by handheld, but you are correct, some have the means, like JRE and the SCT unit.

Thanks Guys - I actually reached out to East Coast and they are within a hour so I will setup a time to do a Dyno Tune at their shop and I'm also looking at getting a Diablo Trinity handheld that they can load my custom tune onto for future needs after were all done.
